Skincare regime that lets me get away with no makeup feat. Lemon & Beaker Product Review

The closer I’m getting to my 30s, the more I’m interested (read obsessed) in skincare and I’ve been so excited reading about ingredients behind any skincare product that I buy or come across.

At the beginning of this year, I volunteered to try out the products from a newly launched NZ skincare brand called Lemon & Beaker (Well! Isn’t that what a beauty blogger’s job is!!!). I was excited to try out a new skincare brand not only because it was all natural, but because it was also cruelty-free, vegan and packaged in glass which means recyclable! When I signed up for this, I had no idea what the products looked like, not even the packaging, or how good (or bad) it might perform on my skin, but having had a pleasant experience with other NZ-made brands, I had quite high hopes for this one. The other impressive point was the fact that the products were developed by a lady who had a Bachelors in Chemistry and knew what really worked etc.20190411_214823-01IMG_20190204_222044_482

After using each of these products for a good amount of time, I have noticed I can get away with no makeup at all most days because my skin is much clearer and brighter, plus the pores around my nose and cheeks have significantly reduced. Although I love putting on makeup, I prefer to not use it all the times because I get super lazy taking it off at the end of the day and I also feel daily use of makeup has never done anyone’s skin much good.

So after a lot of trial and testing of each of these products from Lemon & Beaker, here’s my review on them:

  • Foaming Deep Cleanser with Lemon Essential Oil- $36NZD:20190204_195113-01.jpeg

I absolutely love the fact that the product comes in a bottle with a pump which means that I can control the amount I need to use each time. The product has a gel-like consistency but becomes foamy when you apply it on wet skin. The fragrance is very citrusy and gives an ultimate pick-me-up feel. I feel that my skin feels very clean and bright every time I use it and this is the first step in my skincare routine both morning and night. I use one pump in the morning and two pumps at night to make sure my face is squeaky clean after a long day of being out in the sun, dirt and air-con. This is definitely my favourite product from the brand.

  • Hydrating Toner with Rose Essential Oil- $39NZD:20190204_195258-01

It has taken me quite a good amount of time to understand the importance of toner in a skincare routine, and now it’s a must for me both morning & night. This toner has rose essential oil in it and you need to shake well before putting it on a cotton pad and gently pat onto your skin. Sometimes I also just pour a small amount into my hand and pat it gently on to my skin with my hands if I don’t have cotton pads with me. I do quite like the product but I would have loved it even more if it came in a spray bottle that I could use to evenly spray it on to my face. Unlike many rose-based products, this toner smells like fresh roses which is a big win for me as I hate the smell of artificial rose fragrance.

  • Vitamin C Serum with Lemon Essential Oil- $46NZD:20190404_202016-01

So this has to be my second favourite product and I give a lot of it to how beautiful it looks in the packaging with lemon peel crystals in it. I use this serum in my morning routine and after toner, I take a small pump of this serum and apply it on to my face and neck. The product is instantly absorbed into my skin and has no sticky or oily feel to it. This is a great option for someone who’s got oily skin but is also very good for dry and combination skin types. Ever since I’ve been using this serum along with the other two that I’ll be talking about, I’ve seen a huge difference in some of my pigmentation around my mouth and how my skin naturally glows.

  • Dual-Blend Repairing Serum with Rose Essential Oil- $46NZD:20190404_201614-01-01

I use this serum in my night time routine only because it made my skin a bit oily due to the essential oil. But over the next few weeks, I’m going to start adding this in my morning skincare routine as it would be a great addition for that extra hydration in the colder and drier months coming our way in NZ. This serum is great to fight free radicals that causes sun damage and pigmentation on the skin. I would suggest this serum to those who have dry skin or someone who likes that natural glow on their face as it definitely isn’t suitable for someone who’s already got oily skin. You need to shake the bottle quickly first before using. I used this in the mornings when it was hot and humid here and I broke out a bit as I started to sweat and the oil and sweat together didn’t go that well. Trying this in summer when it’s so humid, this was probably my least favourite in the range but that is only because my face doesn’t deal with sweat that well.

  • Ageless Serum with Jasmine Essential Oil- $48NZD:IMG_20190404_210741_496

Again, I am a big fan of the beautiful packaging this serum has. Lavender is one of my favourite colours and the bottle just looks so pretty on my vanity. Like the name suggests, this serum fights signs of ageing thus reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and improves elasticity of the skin. Like I mentioned earlier, in a couple of years I’ll be turning 30 and I realised this is a good time for me to start with anti-ageing skincare products and this is definitely going to stay in my skincare routine for a long time. The serum has a very mild jasmine smell which is great for someone like me who can’t deal with very strong fragrances. The serum is suitable for all skin types and I apply this along with the dual-blend serum in the night. Of course I can’t tell you if I have less fine lines now or not, but I can definitely say that my skin looks a lot healthier and I don’t know how much of that is because of these serums.

  • Brightening Cream with Rose Essential Oil- $42NZD:

The brightening cream is part of my day and night time skincare routine and I apply this a few seconds after the serum is completely absorbed in my skin.  The brightening cream I am now using and sold everywhere, is different to the first formula I received from Lemon & Beaker initially.  The brightening cream caters to all skin types but doesn’t feel as heavy and thick as the first one I used but equally moisturises the skin. One of the ingredients is Vitamin B3 which is great source for cell regeneration; in short it keeps your skin feeling youthful and fresh.

For the first brightening cream they sent me, I wasn’t initially the biggest fan of it during the day because I felt it to be too thick for me and and it made me sweat around my mouth (any thick cream would do the same thing to me). I blame this on the very hot humid days in NZ. But I noticed it worked wonders when I used it in the night because in the morning I woke up with the best skin ever (this was before I was sent the 3 serums). I did give the feedback to the brand and gladly they were already working on it and changed the formula. Since using the newly formulated brightening cream I have no complaints anymore.20190303_183750

So that was my review on the entire range of Lemon & Beaker skincare products that I’ve been using for a few months now. Using a single brand skincare routine for this entire time definitely helped to make a thorough decision about what I think and how it faired on my skin and I’m so glad I put my hand up to be one of the first to try out this newly launched brand.

If you’re looking for a natural skincare brand, I would highly recommend checking out Lemon & Beaker because it really does work! You can find these products on their website as well as Life Pharmacy and Unichem. I’ve never reviewed a whole lot of skincare products from just a single brand, but there is always a first time. If you find this kind of review useful, do let me know and I’ll do this more often

Do you have a one brand skincare or have you ever thought of trying one?

Disclaimer- Products were sent to me for trial. Like always, my reviews are honest & genuine

Five Last-minute ideas for Mother’s Day

Hello lovely people,

It’s mother’s day today; A day to celebrate the unconditional love and sacrifices by our mothers! Well most people would have already planned their gifts and booked restaurants a long time back but for some of us who tend to either forget to get a gift or was too caught up in their busy schedule, here are some really easy ways to make your mom feel special on this day.

Cook her favourite dish

Let your mom take the day off and cook her favourite dish. This would especially be amazing to all those moms who usually take care of the entire kitchen all by herself. Give her a glass of wine and show her that you can manage the kitchen while she relaxes. Remember, if you aren’t so confident about your cooking skills, you might want to make something easy or even get her favourite dish from a good restaurant. The plan here is to make her feel special and give her the time to relax.

Plan a spa session

Remember, your mom wouldn’t have had that haircut or that manicure in ages. Since most salons would not be free without prior bookings, why not do an at-home salon session!! Set the mood by lighting some candles and put on that relaxing music and let her relax. This might also be a good time for you to get her some refreshments while she relaxes.

Take her out for shopping

Shopping can be so therapeutic especially when your mom has had her busy few days. This could be a great way to spend some quality time with your moms and help her pick her favourites.

If your mom loves makeup, Karen Murrell has some really pretty gift sets which you can get her from any pharmacy near you. They are natural and have lovely shade range which anybody would love. They are currently running specials ($15 off) on their cosmetic bag which comes with two pretty lipsticks and the bag has dual compartments to store the makeup brushes and lipsticks- a perfect gift for those mommies who love makeup 🙂

My mom loves shopping for her bedroom and beddings and linens are kind of her weakness. If your mom is like mine, you can take her out to Wallace Cotton. They’ve got a great range of duvets and quilts which can be really handy for the upcoming cold days. You can checkout their website to find a store near you. Wallace Cotton also has a variety of kitchen ware, cute PJs and aromatherapy; its a shopping paradise for moms who love to amp up their house now and then 🙂

You can also do some online shopping with your mom. Help her choose some of her favourites and this way you would not only be spending time with her but also get her something that she wanted. Ethique is having a specials on their website where your moms can shop their favourite natural soap bars at a much discounted price. The best part is they’re shipping out all orders for FREE today!!!

Gifting your mommy friends

If you have a friend who’s a new mommy or have toddlers, why not make her feel special! There are a lot of brands who does twinning outfits for mom and their bubbas and I think it’s a really cute way to cheer up their day and maybe help them take a few cute pictures in those outfits.

Mother’s Day outfits at Postie+

You can find some really cute twinning outfits at Cotton On and Cotton On Kids. This would be a great way to not only spend some time with your otherwise busy mommy friend but also let her have fun with you and her kid 🙂

Another cool place to find mother’s day outfits is Postie+. You can find some really quirky and fun outfits for both mommy and baby here. Last year I’d picked up some cute outfits for my partner’s new-born niece and it was big hit among everyone!!

Take her out for a movie

Who doesn’t love a good movie! Take your mom out for a movie she would like to watch. Most cinemas would be running mother’s day special screenings and this would be the perfect time for you to watch a chick flick with some yummy buttery popcorn and soda.

Events Cinema is running a special screening of ‘Mamma Mia Sing-Along’ for $10 a ticket! What a steal!!!! Sing along those ABBA songs with your mommy while enjoying your popcorn!!

You see, it’s never too late to pamper your mom. She would of course know you forgot to plan her a special gift, but she would be so much more happier to see you taking the effort to maker her feel special. Even if you are reading this post after days or months after Mother’s Day, it’s okay because your mom deserves to be pampered everyday for her selfless and unconditional love for you and your siblings all her life 🙂

Happy Mother’s Day to all the super moms out there. You deserve all things awesome 🙂

I found my Holy Grail Face Mask ft. Fernz Bee Venom Mask

Hello everyone,

It’s been a long long time since I wrote a post. Lots of reasons behind it which also involves a bit of me being a lazy prick! Anyway, keeping all those reasons aside, I want to talk about a product that’s been my absolute favourite from the past 6 or more months.

Last year, I was sent the newly launched FERNZ SKINCARE ‘Bee Venom Mask’ to try out. This was my first ever NZ made skincare product and I was looking forward to trying it out mainly because of the ingredients. The product contains the OG Manuka honey, Bee Venom ( Oh Yes! It’s the best for your skin), Shea butter and some of the best vitamins (Vit C, B3, B5, B6 ) that your skin craves for.

Fernz Bee Venom Mask

What the product claims:

The Fernz bee venom mask provides the dual action treatment of plumping up the skin to reduce fine lines and wrinkles and helps in hydrating the skin to boost radiance. It’s got the best of New Zealand Manuka Honey and Bee venom that does the magic!!

Not suitable for those with bee allergy!!

Fernz Bee Venom Mask

Price:

The product is available for NZD 55.90 and is available on their website.

My experience:

I have a combination skin with most parts of my face being dry. After moving to New Zealand, I realised my face started getting flaky especially around my nose and mouth area. I believe it was due to the dry and cold air and the mask I was using was only making the skin more and more drier as it catered more to the Indian weather.

Ever since this baby came into my life, I noticed a big difference in my skin and I’m not saying this because it was sent to me by the brand. I mean it girls! The mask is nothing like what I’ve used in the past.

The mask has a creamy texture to it and when you have the first look, it would look more like a jar of moisturiser. A thin layer of the product has to be applied all over for about 20 minutes. After a few minutes of applying the mask, you’ll realise that the product is completely absorbed into your skin and that’s when you know that your skin is happy 🙂

Fernz Bee Venom Mask- Creamy texture

After leaving it on for 20 minutes, I gently massage my face and then rinse it off . There’s this natural healthy flush to your skin and the skin looks fresh. The first time I thought it might be a placebo effect. So I went ahead and used it for 1 whole week (yes, you can use it every single day) to see if I’m just imagining things or if this thing really works. In fact my entire family tried this product when I was in India and they only had good things to say about the mask. It works equally well on men’s skin and this was proved when my dad (matured skin) and brother (teenage boy) tried out the mask for 3 weekends and they felt their skin looked less tired.

Before- Face with the mask on
After- Face After the wash

By now I was convinced that I’ve found my holy grail face mask and I would definitely be going back to a new jar once I run out of my current one!! I love that the ingredients are all natural and made in New Zealand (say yay to supporting local businesses) and that it suits all skin types of any gender. You get one jar for your entire family and they’re all sorted 🙂

Final thoughts:

This mask is definitely worth giving a try. The packaging says to be used everyday but I think using it once a week would do good too. The best time to use this mask is in the night as it has enough time to do its magic on your skin.

Definitely not very friendly on your pocket but if you love some good natural ingredients on your skin, this is definitely something that you need to have. The jar is good enough to last you for a long time and also looks pretty luxe in terms of packaging.

Ratings:

4.5/5 (Deducting 0.5 only for the price)

If you’ve tried this product or any other bee venom products, make sure to share your stories in the comments section below.

Till then stay awesome 🙂

Be Girly, Be De Moza

Hello girls,

It’s pouring lookbooks here on the blog and I’m so happy about it. A few months back, I was contacted by the lovely people from DeMoza stores  and was asked if I would like to checkout their collection. Since, I was not in town, I could choose some outfits from their website.

About DeMoza Stores:

De Moza word derived from Spanish word “Attractive Girl”. Since 2013 the brand has spread its operations with over 12 exclusive stores across Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune and Jaipur. De Moza is also available at leading department stores and online marketplaces. The company comes with over 15 years of technical know how of making superfine cotton and viscose fabrics and garments and bring the latest fashion with best in class quality at affordable price.

Here is the look that I’ve created with their pieces and I’m quite happy with the quality of their fabric. I’ve washed the pieces once and it’s still as good as new. I love to wear Indo-Western outfits and Palazzos are something I absolutely adore for it’s comfort and style. By far, the Palazzo I’ve received from DeMoza stores is one of my favourites. They fit well on me and feels super comfortable without making me look huge.

I’ve accessorised the look with some bling. The pretty necklace is from Aldo, that I’d received during their store launch at Express Avenue Mall in Chennai.I realised while doing the shoot, that the necklace was broken, and I was heartbroken to be honest. I never really wore this and I don’t know somehow it just broke while shifting. They have an amazing collection of pretty shoes, bags and accessories. The tie-up lace sandals are so much in trend, and this one from Truffle Collection was such a steal from Snapdeal which goes perfectly with the outfit. The entire makeup was done using Revlon products and I’m so happy how the makeup turned out. I’ve been lately loving their products way too much all over again and even reviewed their new matte nail paint range HERE.  Checkout the entire lookbook below!

6 Kurta Styles that all women should know about!

Hello everyone,

Kurtas are such a staple piece in most of our wardrobes, be it a college-goer or the corporates, there is a style for each one of us. When I was in college, I was obsessed with wearing a new mufti everyday and tried not to repeat them again in the week and again when I started working, this obsession grew even more. There are so many varieties and styles of Kurtas available in the market as well as online and the best part is, there are some brands that want to bring these styles to us at a pocket-friendly price too.

One such brand is RANGRITI, that offers a range of bright and colourful Kurtas online for every woman out there. ‘Rang’- meaning colour and ‘Riti’- meaning fashion or trend; Rangriti brings out a line that is a fine blend of feminine cuts and beautiful shades in sync with the latest fashion trends. After going through their vast collection of Kurtas online, here are some of the styles I feel that every woman should have in her closet. I have   also talked about how to style kurtas in different ways in this previous post HERE.

Straight Fit Kurtas:

These kind of Kurtas are amazing to create an illusion of a taller body. You can dress them up or down as per the occasion and the place and pair them up with leggings or distressed jeans for a more indo-western look. Add a piece of chunky jewellery and you are good to go. monsoon-collection-by-rangriti-3-min

Asymmetrical Kurtas:

These kurtas are great for office wear and you can even alter the look by pairing them with straight fit silk pants or palazzos instead of leggings. Try adding some basic jewellery to go for a more Indian look.celebrate-the-spirit-of-mothers-day-with-an-exclusive-collection-of-rangriti-420x300

Anarkali style Kurtas:

For me, these are one of the most elegant Kurta styles and suits every body type. They are available in either different lengths, knee-length or ankle length and can be paired with pretty kolhapuri chappals on a casual day and high-heels for weddings and other special occasions. Accessorize the outfit with a pair of pom-pom earrings and see how you are going to be the talk of the town.

Denim-style Kurta:

Ok, so this is a style that’s quite new to me and with the whole trend of denim and chambray going on everywhere, why not flaunt this fabric with your Kurtas! I found some amazing collection of denim-styled Kurtas on Rangriti’s online website. Here’s my favourite pick.screen-shot-2016-11-14-at-9-34-56-pm

screen-shot-2016-11-14-at-9-44-31-pm

Maxi style kurtas:

So these are just like anarkalis, but with lesser flares, that makes them look just like as if you are wearing a cotton maxi dress. You can wear them with regular leggings or wear them as maxi dresses with a waistcoat or a cropped denim jacket and add a jhola to your shoulder, and you have the perfect college look. You can get some inspiration from these pictures too.

Double-layered kurtas:

These kurtas are just what they sound like. They give an illusion of two different layers of fabric and some of them are even detachable and can be worn as single pieces too. These are relatively newer styles, but are extremely flattering and trendy.mothers-day-collection-by-rangriti-3

screen-shot-2016-11-14-at-9-00-59-pm

Other than these 6 styles, there are also the basic princess cut kurtas that most of us were introduced to at the beginning of our kurta journeys. They can be worn with leggings or even skinny jeans and are the most comfortable for the college-goers or those who have no time to dress up to office everyday.

You would definitely love the Rangriti collections and just for all the BIBA lovers, Rangriti is their sister brand. The brand has made sure to bring all the high-end fashion to their consumers at a very affordable and attractive price , which makes it easier for the women to be fashionable everyday. They have a wide range of pretty kurtas, kurtis,  pallazzos, skirts and dupattas in beautiful, bright prints and colours  bringing freshness, variety & style to every woman’s closet. Make sure to checkout the Rangriti online website for their latest collections.

Bee Choo Origin Hair Spa Experience at Hairbitat, Vittal Mallya Road

Hello lovely people,

Hairfall is such a common problem these days for not just women but equally for men. Most of us have such hectic schedules, that we forget about the torture that our hair goes through every single day, from getting exposed to harsh UV rays to pollution to even those super tight hair ties and helmets we wear while riding bikes. Adding to all this agony, are all the chemical hair treatments we go through, in the hope of making them smoother, straighter and what not!

Recently, our newer member of Team ThatTripeUrbanLife, Arpitha (Know more about her HERE) went for a hair spa at Hairbitat in their newly opened branch at Vittal Mallya Road, Bangalore. When we say hair spa, don’t just think it’s any other expensive hair spa we find in salons. This was quite different, as it was completely natural and all the products were from the well-known Singapore brand Bee Choo Origins.

Bee Choo Origin at Hairbitat

About Bee Choo Origin:

Bee Choo Origin group promotes 100% chemical/preservative/additives free herbal paste that can promote hair growth was conceptualized after Bee Choo, the founder of the Bee Choo Origin Group, met a Hong Kong physician who told her about Chinese herbs that can aid in solving hair loss problems.  With the Hong Kong physician’s encouragement and guidance, Bee Choo started to experiment on various herbal concoctions until she came up with what is known today as the Bee Choo Origin Herbal Paste. Their aim is to solve customer’s hair problems through Chinese traditional herbs and professional service with love.

You can find the Bee Choo Origin treatments in India only at HAIRBITAT, where the only focus is only on hair treatments. Hairbitat has it’s branches in Jayanagar, HSR Layout and the one we visited was above the Raymond’s Showroom in Vittal Mallya Road.

  • How was the staff?

I was welcomed with a warm and smiling staff who offered me a cup of piping hot herbal tea and on asking, they told me that it had chrysanthemum in it which helps you relax. After examining the scalp, we proceeded with the treatment.

  • What did the process include?
  1. A ginger tonic was applied to open up the pores to prepare the skin for the herbal treatment.
  2. The Bee Choo herbal paste, which is the main ingredient of the treatment, was applied onto the scalp and hair and wrapped with a head wrap to avoid any dripping.

  3. I headed for the steaming where a fixed temperature will be set for the first 40 minutes and then a lower temperature for the next 5 minutes for the paste to do its magic. This was the most relaxing time during the entire process.

  4. After the steaming, the scalp is allowed to cool and then the paste was washed with the help of a cooling menthol shampoo and conditioner. The therapist gave an amazing massage during the shampooing which felt like heaven to me.
  5. A vitamin essence was sprayed onto the hair along with another tonic to help prevent damaged hair.
  • Overall experience?

My hair felt really soft and covered all the greys which was quite astonishing. The herbal paste had a nice aroma to it and looked a bit like henna. The therapist told me it had 21 herbal ingredients and no chemical whatsoever is added to this special herbal paste. My scalp was also cleaned up and I could see a big difference to my hair. I was also told to get this treatment a few more times in order to see permanent fix to all the greys and other hair issues.

  • Do you recommend this treatment?

Yes. For the price you are paying, this is by far the best treatment I have come across which gives real results and that lasts longer even after washing your hair a few times. They recommend you to use their shampoos and conditioners and I can understand why. Most of the hair products that we use contains some or the other kind of chemicals and since Bee Choo Origin treatment has all 100% natural ingredients, they want you to use chemical free shampoos and conditioners too.

The treatment is definitely worth a try, infect more than just one try. As Arpitha mentioned, the Bee Choo Origin treatment has definitely shown results on her hair and infact has been raved quite a lot by Krupa from IshtyleAwhile. I’m definitely going to try this treatment pretty soon myself after hearing such great reviews from Arpitha. What do you think of this treatment? Have you been to any of the stores of Hairbitat India for this treatment? Let me know your views on this.

The time i got pampered by Spa la Vie By L’OCCITANE |Spa Review

Hello everyone,

If you are a regular reader of our blog, you would know that I was MIA for a while and the reasons are many. Among them were me being highly stressed out and sick with my regular back pain issues

. Somewhere during this time, i was contacted by the good people at Spa la Vie by L’OCCITANE to review their services. It was really a miracle in disguise and ask me why? Well, you’ll know all about it by the end of this post.

Spa la Vie by l'Occitane
Spa la Vie by l’Occitane

The luxurious Mediterranean themed Spa L’OCCITANE invites every guest to  experience the simple warmth of sunny soil and a unique journey. Every gesture, every ingredient is drawn from the L’OCCITANE grand herbarium, providing an unforgettable authentic and sensorial experience for its guests. The one I visited is located in the newly opened VR Bengaluru at the lower ground floor.

Amidst the hullabaloo of a mall,  is the Spa La Vie By L’OCCITANE where I was welcomed by a smiling staff and a cup of honey-lemon-ginger green tea, which is their welcome drink. I was then offered a pair of straw slippers and was then introduced by the manager Anumohan who consulted with me and asked me about my work, stress level etc about the various massage therapies available and I was asked to fill out a form where I had to fill in all the details about my lifestyle, any diseases or if I had a problem area. After all that, we finally zeroed down to the Relaxing Aromachologie Massage, which is a full body massage to ensure complete body relaxation, just what I needed!

Spa la Vie by l'Occitane
Spa la Vie by l’Occitane

I was then escorted to the Spa Room by my masseuse Athisa, who gave me the clothes to change into and waited outside the room for me to change and get comfortable. After that, she soaked my feet in water that smelt divine to me. And then my body massage session followed for the next 60 minutes. She made sure I’m at the utmost comfort and kept the body covered and exposed the body part by part to massage them. I literally drifted into another world that was peaceful and serene. There was a point wherein I just went into sleep and trust me you guys, that was one of the best ever sleep I’ve had in a long time. Athisa was damn good at her job and after the session, she used an aromatic oil and kept it near my nose and asked me to take deep breaths. Attached to the spa room is a shower room and also a bathtub where I was asked to take a hot water shower. The spa provides their own shower gel, shampoo and conditioner which is super impressive because a lot of other spas, these essentials are missing.  The also had a hair dryer and newly wrapped comb which you can use after the shower.

The spa was extremely hygienic and clean and every detail was taken care of to give the most relaxed session for me. I did feel rejuvenated and relaxed at the end of the session. The spa was then followed by few other services that i’m going to talk about in my upcoming posts. So stay tuned for that!

7 ways to style your KURTAS this summer

Hello everyone,

It feels like eternity since I posted something here and to be honest I am not going to be apologetic about it this time for the very fact that I was not in the right frame of mind to write or put my head into anything creative and didn’t want to post anything just for the sake of posting. Well, am all fine now, atleast I feel fine and now it’s time for me to get back to something that I absolutely love- Blogging!

Today we are going to talk about kurtas and how this versatile piece can be styled in various ways and can be truly called a fashion statement. A lot of us don’t really know the difference between a KURTA and KURTI and I was one of them too until last year. After some research, I found out the difference and realised that a Kurti is the one which is shorter in length usually till your hips and a Kurta is more of a longer silhouette and usually till the knees or even below that. Well, that really does mean a huge difference right!

Now that we are sorted out with what Kurtas are, let’s talk about them a bit more. A Kurta is one of the most comfortable pieces that one can find in their wardrobe. They are casual yet very chic and make an amazing style statement if styled well and appropriate according to the occasion. You can style one Kurta in so many different and unique ways; All you need is a little creativity and lots of mixing n matching.Let’s find out the different ways one can style a Kurta.

  • Leggings: This is the most common way, we all know to style our kurtas with. They are comfortable, convenient to carry and look very classy on anyone. You can wear leggings that match with the Kurta color or go for contrasting colors and pair some jumkas and kolhapuris to go for comfy yet stylish Indian look.

  • Palazzos: This is the most recent trend that’s in vogue and one of my most favorites too. It is super comfortable and yet looks stylish in so many ways. These wide legged flared pants looks flattering on different types of body. Wear a solid color with a printed kurta or a printed palazzo with a solid colored kurta and you are going to look fabulous.

  • Indo- Western dresses:   Flaunt your super long anarkali styled kurtas or the short flared kurtas as as dresses and give yourself an Indo-western look. Choose the right one and style it with the right accessories to darn your winner look. These are perfect looks for college-goers or even for brunch meetups. Style the kurta with a boho neckpiece, joottis and a jhola for that perfect Bohemian/ Indo-western look.biba7

  • Slim Fitted Pants: Pairing your Kurta with a slim fitted trouser or pants is perfect for an office look. It’s comfortable and looks fab and helps in making you look tall and lean. You can carry this look to even a party by going for printed pants in cotton or silk fabrics.  biba12 biba11straight
  • Skirts: This is my second favourite way of styling kurtas. The best part is they let you breathe in what you are wearing , hence perfect for the tropical weather in India and also looks elegant on most body types. You can go for matching coloured skirts or go for a plain kurta with loud coloured skirts or vice-versa.

  • Jackets: A simple plain kurta with a printed or an embroidered jacket is a perfect alternative to a dupatta. It looks smart and gives you an ethnic look as well. Button it or just let it loose, a jacket is trendy and cool.  You can go for long jackets with a slit in the front or at the sides or short cropped jackets for a more casual college look.biba2
  • Jeans: One of the most recent trends that has come back from the 90s. I remember wearing my kurtas with jeans in my teenage years. Now the best part about teaming your kurtas with jeans is that you can either go for slim fitted jeans or even go for a casual look by pairing them with a boyfriend jeans or a distressed jeans. Add some joottis or kolhapuris and a jhola and see how you are going to turn numerous heads towards you.

There is a certain charm in Indian wear and makes every woman look beautiful in the most comfortable way.It all depends on how you choose the right silhouette according to your body type and how you style them with the right accessories. Long Kurtas make you look leaner and taller. Use this to your best advantage and dance away to glory. Have a diverse collection of kurtas based on fabric and style and stay on top of the ethnic fashion race. One Kurta can give you so many different looks and that’s the beauty of Kurtas.
