Deciding what to wear to work is itself a hard job, but when it comes to winter it gets all the more difficult. All most of us think about is to keep ourselves warm and reach out to the same sweater and warm pants.
Winters are associated with colours like blacks, greys and blues, but why would you want to just stick to these boring colours. The cold weather can be quite depressing in itself, especially in a city like Auckland where we have literally 6-8 months of just cold and wet days. I like to add some colour to my outfits and since half my life is now in office, I like to carry colour with me to work. Adding bold colours with your blacks and greys can be quite fun and you can easily sail through the horrible cold days.
In part 1 of this series, I’ll show you an outfit that can be carried from work to a brunch with your mates to even a casual meeting.
I’ve paired a pleated skirt with a bright orange high-neck sweater and to beat the wind, I’ve added a trench jacket/coat which I recently found during my op-shop visit. To give it an office look, I’ve added these black pair of pumps from Catwalk that my lovely friend picked from Reliance Footprints in Bangalore (Dola, you are amazing!). Together this makes a wonderful outfit for days when the sky is grey and all you want to do is curl up in your bed. The colours are definitely going to pick up your mood and make everyone around you as well happy and cheerful 🙂
Go for darker lip colours like plums and browns. Here I’ve used ‘Fragile Things’ from colourpop on my lips and the rest of the products are all from the ‘Flights of Fancy’ collection from Wet n Wild. I’ve recently posted a complete first impressions review on the collection and you can read about it here.
Orange sweater: Myntra (borrowed from the lovely flatmate)
Trench Coat: Op-shopped
Black Pumps: Catwalk from Reliance Footwear
Don’t let your wardrobe suffer due to the weather- get experimental and play with colours to turn your boring winters to an enjoyable one.
The next outfit post would be for those who like to play it safe and have a bit more stricter corporate dress codes at work. Stay tuned for it! Are you someone who loves a colourful outfit during the colder months? Let me know all about it in the comments section below.
If you follow me on my social media profiles, you would know that recently I have become a part of POPxo as one of their POPxo Blogger and when they, PUMA and Myntra came together to give one lucky person the chance to meet Rihanna in person in USA, I was more than ecstatic to be a part of it. If you don’t know yet, PUMA has collaborated with Rihanna for their FENTY Collection which truly describes Rihanna’s style- edgy, sexy and bold. All I had to do was buy a PUMA product from Myntra and style it my way , but this time I wanted to go all out and try something out of my comfort zone and what better inspiration than Rihanna herself. I chose an oversized red T-shirt from the Men’s section and a grey coloured backpack from Myntra. I have seen RiRi styling any kind of look with so much confidence and likes a more casual, more sporty look, and she rocks it to the fullest. I decided to pair the tee with a denim dungarees skirt that I bought from Sarojini Nagar Market during my recent Delhi visit along with my Sky Hi sneakers from Koovs. I have recently been way too obsessed with anything that’s 90’s and wanted to go for a grunge 90’s look which is something that’s been sported quite a lot by RiRi.
It’s pretty obvious that I cannot match anywhere near her style, but style is all about taking inspiration from the looks you like and putting in your own bits to it right! Also, double buns are trending these days and I recently saw RiRi flaunting them too in one of her casual night looks, hence tried these double buns which I absolutely loved. Keeps all the hair away from the face and looks super cute in a not so kiddish way.
