If you guys follow me on Instagram, a few days back I had posted a picture of the mug cakes that I baked at home. Lately I’ve been craving for chocolate a lot and I came across a video on YouTube that gave me this idea. Though I’ve added a little bit of my twist into it but it came out to be a surprise when it tasted so delicious, better than the sponge cakes we pay for in the bakeries. The best part is you can make this in a very short amount of time.
So getting started with the ingredients first make sure you have a microwave or an oven safe mug or a cup with you. You can make use of your large ceramic coffee mugs for this purpose, a tablespoon and a teaspoon and a fork or a whisk. This recipe will serve 1-2 persons and hence the measurements are according to that.
4 tablespoons of maida/ all purpose flour
2 tablespoons of sugar (powdered)
2-3 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder
A pinch of salt
2 teaspoons of baking powder
1/8 teaspoon of baking soda
3 tablespoons of nutella
2 tablespoons of condensed milk/ milkmaid
4 tablespoons of milk
3 tablespoons of oil
Add all the dry ingredients first into the mug and use the fork or the whisk to mix it well. Now add the milkmaid and nutella an mix with the dry mixture. Pour in the milk and oil and thoroughly mix it to make sure there are no lumps formed. Get it to a runny yet a little thick consistency like the batter for usual cakes.
Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3-5 minutes at 950-1000 watts (high). You will see the cake rising up in the mug and that’s the most fun part to watch 🙂 after 3 minutes you can pause and take out the mug and insert a knife and check if its been cooked well inside, if not put it back in for another 2 minutes and you’ll be done with your YUM YUM mug cake.
For oven/ OTG:
Pre-heat the oven for 10 minutes at 200 celsius and put your mug inside. It’ll take more time in an oven from 15-20 minutes depending on the batter, but the taste and feel of the cake will be the same.
If you are an egg lover, instead of condensed milk use 1 egg in the batter and 1/2 teaspoon of Vanilla extract and whisk it well with the mixture and bake. The egg make this cake even more spongy and tastier. Add some choco chips or chocolate syrup into it and relish this delicacy. 😀 This recipe is great for those craving days as well as for your house parties as an amazing dessert. Do try out this recipe and let me know in the comment bar if you liked it or if you have tried some other mug cake recipes, do let me know as well.
HAPPY COOKING!!!! 😀
