Deciding what to wear to work is itself a hard job, but when it comes to winter it gets all the more difficult. All most of us think about is to keep ourselves warm and reach out to the same sweater and warm pants.
Winters are associated with colours like blacks, greys and blues, but why would you want to just stick to these boring colours. The cold weather can be quite depressing in itself, especially in a city like Auckland where we have literally 6-8 months of just cold and wet days. I like to add some colour to my outfits and since half my life is now in office, I like to carry colour with me to work. Adding bold colours with your blacks and greys can be quite fun and you can easily sail through the horrible cold days.
In part 1 of this series, I’ll show you an outfit that can be carried from work to a brunch with your mates to even a casual meeting.
I’ve paired a pleated skirt with a bright orange high-neck sweater and to beat the wind, I’ve added a trench jacket/coat which I recently found during my op-shop visit. To give it an office look, I’ve added these black pair of pumps from Catwalk that my lovely friend picked from Reliance Footprints in Bangalore (Dola, you are amazing!). Together this makes a wonderful outfit for days when the sky is grey and all you want to do is curl up in your bed. The colours are definitely going to pick up your mood and make everyone around you as well happy and cheerful 🙂
Go for darker lip colours like plums and browns. Here I’ve used ‘Fragile Things’ from colourpop on my lips and the rest of the products are all from the ‘Flights of Fancy’ collection from Wet n Wild. I’ve recently posted a complete first impressions review on the collection and you can read about it here.
Orange sweater: Myntra (borrowed from the lovely flatmate)
Trench Coat: Op-shopped
Black Pumps: Catwalk from Reliance Footwear
Don’t let your wardrobe suffer due to the weather- get experimental and play with colours to turn your boring winters to an enjoyable one.
The next outfit post would be for those who like to play it safe and have a bit more stricter corporate dress codes at work. Stay tuned for it! Are you someone who loves a colourful outfit during the colder months? Let me know all about it in the comments section below.
Wet n Wild has always been a favourite brand of mine. Their products are super affordable yet the brand has never given away on their quality and pigmentation and they are cruelty-free too! From college goers to working professionals, the brand has something for everyone without really having to burn our wallets.
Recently, I was sent this beautiful PR box filled with products from the Wet n wild ‘Flights of Fancy’ collection. The collection is inspired by the Allen’s and Costa hummingbirds and was all things bright and colourful (definitely needed it during this grey and gloomy winter here in NZ). I’m still trying out all these products, but I thought I would give my first impressions on all of these products, since I’ve made my hands dirty with these beauties a couple of times already. Tehehee
Coloricon Baked Blush:
I was blown away by how gorgeous they looked in this revamped packaging. They came in two shades- one a pink peachy (Don’t filter yourself) one and the other more of a warm golden(Hummingbird hype) tone. They are definitely going to be my go-to during the bright summer days. But for now I would be using them more as a highlight and Hummingbird Hype is my favourite among the two.
Price: NZD $12.99
Coloricon Eyeshadow Quads:
There were three different quads in the collection (from L to R)-
‘Hasta La Costa’- This palette is perfect for those who love playing with colours. The green shade is my favourite and I’m planning to do a peacock look with this baby.
‘Stop ruffling my feathers’- I would say this is for those who like to play it safe. The palette has a mix of neutrals but with an added touch of shimmer to take your look from day to night without much effort.
‘Flock Party’- I would say this is in between playing fun and playing safe. Love the cranberry shade in this and infact I used this to create a look which you can see at the end of the post.
The brand is the best when it comes to eyeshadows and you can see the same with these three palettes. They are super pigmented and stay on your eyelids for a good amount of time even without an eye primer.
Price: NZD $6.99
Coloricon Lip Gloss:
I would be lying if I say I love wearing lip gloss. I’ve always ran away from donning a lipgloss only because I have this annoying habit of licking my lips and this would mean that I would eat off my lip gloss, which would in turn mean I would have to keep reapplying the gloss.
But when I saw the beautiful red shade in this collection, I was tempted to try it out. The floral packaging on the lid was all the more alluring. Sadly two of the shades were not something that would suit my skin tone, I swatched the red shade which is called ‘Love Bird Affair’. The pigmentation is so so good and it gives you that gorgeous plumped up lips look. You don’t always need a cosmetic surgeon for those Kardashian lips!!
Price: NZD $8.99
The last three products were the most interesting one to me.
Photofocus Primer Water Spray: I’ve never ever tried a primer in a spray bottle, hence the excitement. When you spray the product, the mist evenly distributes onto your skin and get absorbed fast enough to give you that perfect smooth skin to apply your foundation. It smells good and doesn’t tingle or irritate your skin. I’m so hooked onto this one. Price: NZD $12.99
Perfectpout Lip Scrub: This one tastes so goooooood!!!! It smells like watermelon as soon as you open the lid and tastes so good that you would actually feel like eating. It not only smells good but also helped in taking off the dry flaky skin on my lips. This scrub has now become an everyday part of my night time skincare and I’m definitely repurchasing this. Price: NZD $8.99
P72 makeup brush: I’ve heard such great reviews about the Wet n Wild brushes and when I saw this pretty brush in the box, I was damn excited. Apparently these purple brushes are part of their limited edition and are super soft. I’ve used to apply my brush and it did a wonderful job. Price: NZD $16.99
Here’s the look I created with the products from this collection.
The best part is yet to come! All the Wet n wild products are now available at Farmer’s in New Zealand. You can either find them at selected stores or online on their website. Isn’t that a great news! You don’t have to now wait for your mates to get your these beauties from overseas. If you are looking to buy any of the products mentioned in this post, go ahead and buy it on the Farmer’s website. The entire collection is available just for $79.99 which is a great deal.
My recommendations would be the eyeshadows (super pigmented at a great price),Baked blush (hummingbird hype), the lip scrub(great for chapped and dry lips) and the makeup brush (amazing quality and super soft).
What do you think of Wet n Wild products? Have you tried anything from this collection? Which one are you most excited about? Tell me all about it in the comments.
It’s mother’s day today; A day to celebrate the unconditional love and sacrifices by our mothers! Well most people would have already planned their gifts and booked restaurants a long time back but for some of us who tend to either forget to get a gift or was too caught up in their busy schedule, here are some really easy ways to make your mom feel special on this day.
Cook her favourite dish
Let your mom take the day off and cook her favourite dish. This would especially be amazing to all those moms who usually take care of the entire kitchen all by herself. Give her a glass of wine and show her that you can manage the kitchen while she relaxes. Remember, if you aren’t so confident about your cooking skills, you might want to make something easy or even get her favourite dish from a good restaurant. The plan here is to make her feel special and give her the time to relax.
Plan a spa session
Remember, your mom wouldn’t have had that haircut or that manicure in ages. Since most salons would not be free without prior bookings, why not do an at-home salon session!! Set the mood by lighting some candles and put on that relaxing music and let her relax. This might also be a good time for you to get her some refreshments while she relaxes.
Take her out for shopping
Shopping can be so therapeutic especially when your mom has had her busy few days. This could be a great way to spend some quality time with your moms and help her pick her favourites.
If your mom loves makeup, Karen Murrell has some really pretty gift sets which you can get her from any pharmacy near you. They are natural and have lovely shade range which anybody would love. They are currently running specials ($15 off) on their cosmetic bag which comes with two pretty lipsticks and the bag has dual compartments to store the makeup brushes and lipsticks- a perfect gift for those mommies who love makeup 🙂
My mom loves shopping for her bedroom and beddings and linens are kind of her weakness. If your mom is like mine, you can take her out to Wallace Cotton. They’ve got a great range of duvets and quilts which can be really handy for the upcoming cold days. You can checkout their website to find a store near you. Wallace Cotton also has a variety of kitchen ware, cute PJs and aromatherapy; its a shopping paradise for moms who love to amp up their house now and then 🙂
You can also do some online shopping with your mom. Help her choose some of her favourites and this way you would not only be spending time with her but also get her something that she wanted. Ethique is having a specials on their website where your moms can shop their favourite natural soap bars at a much discounted price. The best part is they’re shipping out all orders for FREE today!!!
Gifting your mommy friends
If you have a friend who’s a new mommy or have toddlers, why not make her feel special! There are a lot of brands who does twinning outfits for mom and their bubbas and I think it’s a really cute way to cheer up their day and maybe help them take a few cute pictures in those outfits.
You can find some really cute twinning outfits at Cotton On and Cotton On Kids. This would be a great way to not only spend some time with your otherwise busy mommy friend but also let her have fun with you and her kid 🙂
Another cool place to find mother’s day outfits is Postie+. You can find some really quirky and fun outfits for both mommy and baby here. Last year I’d picked up some cute outfits for my partner’s new-born niece and it was big hit among everyone!!
Take her out for a movie
Who doesn’t love a good movie! Take your mom out for a movie she would like to watch. Most cinemas would be running mother’s day special screenings and this would be the perfect time for you to watch a chick flick with some yummy buttery popcorn and soda.
Events Cinema is running a special screening of ‘Mamma Mia Sing-Along’ for $10 a ticket! What a steal!!!! Sing along those ABBA songs with your mommy while enjoying your popcorn!!
You see, it’s never too late to pamper your mom. She would of course know you forgot to plan her a special gift, but she would be so much more happier to see you taking the effort to maker her feel special. Even if you are reading this post after days or months after Mother’s Day, it’s okay because your mom deserves to be pampered everyday for her selfless and unconditional love for you and your siblings all her life 🙂
Happy Mother’s Day to all the super moms out there. You deserve all things awesome 🙂
It’s been a long long time since I wrote a post. Lots of reasons behind it which also involves a bit of me being a lazy prick! Anyway, keeping all those reasons aside, I want to talk about a product that’s been my absolute favourite from the past 6 or more months.
Last year, I was sent the newly launched FERNZ SKINCARE ‘Bee Venom Mask’ to try out. This was my first ever NZ made skincare product and I was looking forward to trying it out mainly because of the ingredients. The product contains the OG Manuka honey, Bee Venom ( Oh Yes! It’s the best for your skin), Shea butter and some of the best vitamins (Vit C, B3, B5, B6 ) that your skin craves for.
What the product claims:
The Fernz bee venom mask provides the dual action treatment of plumping up the skin to reduce fine lines and wrinkles and helps in hydrating the skin to boost radiance. It’s got the best of New Zealand Manuka Honey and Bee venom that does the magic!!
Not suitable for those with bee allergy!!
The product is available for NZD 55.90 and is available on their website.
I have a combination skin with most parts of my face being dry. After moving to New Zealand, I realised my face started getting flaky especially around my nose and mouth area. I believe it was due to the dry and cold air and the mask I was using was only making the skin more and more drier as it catered more to the Indian weather.
Ever since this baby came into my life, I noticed a big difference in my skin and I’m not saying this because it was sent to me by the brand. I mean it girls! The mask is nothing like what I’ve used in the past.
The mask has a creamy texture to it and when you have the first look, it would look more like a jar of moisturiser. A thin layer of the product has to be applied all over for about 20 minutes. After a few minutes of applying the mask, you’ll realise that the product is completely absorbed into your skin and that’s when you know that your skin is happy 🙂
After leaving it on for 20 minutes, I gently massage my face and then rinse it off . There’s this natural healthy flush to your skin and the skin looks fresh. The first time I thought it might be a placebo effect. So I went ahead and used it for 1 whole week (yes, you can use it every single day) to see if I’m just imagining things or if this thing really works. In fact my entire family tried this product when I was in India and they only had good things to say about the mask. It works equally well on men’s skin and this was proved when my dad (matured skin) and brother (teenage boy) tried out the mask for 3 weekends and they felt their skin looked less tired.
By now I was convinced that I’ve found my holy grail face mask and I would definitely be going back to a new jar once I run out of my current one!! I love that the ingredients are all natural and made in New Zealand (say yay to supporting local businesses) and that it suits all skin types of any gender. You get one jar for your entire family and they’re all sorted 🙂
This mask is definitely worth giving a try. The packaging says to be used everyday but I think using it once a week would do good too. The best time to use this mask is in the night as it has enough time to do its magic on your skin.
Definitely not very friendly on your pocket but if you love some good natural ingredients on your skin, this is definitely something that you need to have. The jar is good enough to last you for a long time and also looks pretty luxe in terms of packaging.
4.5/5 (Deducting 0.5 only for the price)
If you’ve tried this product or any other bee venom products, make sure to share your stories in the comments section below.
Happy Halloween to everybody! 2014 was the first ever time I celebrated Halloween and dressed up for it and ever since then, I’ve always enjoyed the idea of dressing up. For me Halloween is not just about looking scary, its about creating your own version of your favourite characters.
A few days ago I came across a Pop Art Halloween look created by the YouTuber Shweta VJ. It was not only different and unique but also super easy to create and today I decided to recreate the same look with whatever minimum makeup I had in my kit. I’m not sure if Shweta will ever come across my blog, but I hope I make her proud 😀
So here’s my two versions of Desi Rani-The Pop Art Version!!!!
I’ve tried to play around with yellow lighting here just to give a better pixelated effect. Definitely not the perfect recreation, but I think for an amateur like me, I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. I wish I had more Indian jewellery to accessorise though. Here’s a picture in white light with no editing
I hope you liked this Halloween look and would recreate it. You can checkout Shweta’s YouTube video HERE, to see the original version of this look.
Where have I been all this while??? Well! I was trying to blend in a new country, around new people and culture. It took me more than a year to discover myself here. Trust me it isn’t easy and not what it looks from the outside. Long story short, I’m back and trying to get back into what I love the most-sharing my experiences with you lovely people 🙂
I’ve been trying out a lot of new skincare and makeup ranges exclusively made in New Zealand and recently came across ‘Miri Skincare’ on Instagram. I was so mesmerised by its pretty green packaging, that I had to have one in my skincare kit. The team at Bare PR and Miri Skincare was kind enough to send me a sample to test out and I have all things good to say about this multi-purpose balm.
But before that, here’s a small introduction about the brand- When Miri’s founder Paul Jarvis saw his wife and her friends extensively using a popular Aussie brand’s multi-purpose balm which had petrochemicals in it, he knew he had to make something that was New Zealand made and had no nasty ingredients in it. NZ is well-known around the world for its kiwifruits and Manuka honey and that’s what Paul Jarvis wanted to include in his product for its exceptional properties, and that was the birth of the Miri Balm. Miri is a Maori word that means ‘to rub, smear or smoothe’.
Ingredients: With no nasty ingredients, Miri balm mainly consists of kiwifruit seed oil and Manuka honey with Omega 3 and is completely paraben and SLS free. Find the ingredients list in the below picture-
How to use: This magical balm can be a life-saviour in all seasons for various skin-related issues. It can be used for issues like chapped lips, dry hands, rashes, burns or insect bites.
The tube is a perfect size for your handbag and I’ve been carrying this balm in my bag everyday to work. I’ve super dry and chapped lips all year around and this is kind of a staple for me everyday in the morning. I use a tiny amount on my lips before applying my matte lipsticks and this ensures that the lipsticks don’t crack and also keeps my lips hydrated.
The balm has helped my cuticles to heal to a large extent. I rub a small amount on my cuticles and massage it for a minute so that the product is completely absorbed. They are also an amazing solution to cracked heels due to its antiseptic property.
I was a bit skeptical about it being oily, but honestly the product is non-sticky. It gives a nice shine to the skin and completely gets rid of dryness. The absorption takes a few minutes, but you would not feel the need of constantly moisturising your skin after using the balm.
Overall, I find this product great and I feel having an all-purpose product is superb when you’re travelling or going to work as you can refrain yourself from carrying bulky skincare kits everywhere.Due to the absence of many preservatives, it’s recommended to shake the tube well before using to so that the ingredients can mix well together.
I would totally recommend this product to everyone and to all my Non-NZ readers, this is currently available only in NZ pharmacies at RRP $12.99. I hope Miri Skincare starts selling internationally, so that the world can experience this tiny tube of goodness.
Have you tried Miri? Which is your favourite all-purpose balm? Let me know your thoughts in the comments section below.
I know its been ages since I posted anything here and if you follow me on Instagram, you would know the reasons for my absence. I’m not going to get into that now, as I’m here to talk about something that is definitely going to interest a lot of the men readers here. Recently, we were invited to the launch of PN Rao’s launch of their ‘Stretch Fabric’ collection for suits that are specially catered towards the urban men.
About the brand:
PN Rao is an epitome of a classy man’s fashion standards without ever compromising on the ethics and culture set up by Shri P N Rao, who built the brand by encouraging the budding tailors to develop their skills according to the growing demands of the customers. The brand is synonymous for bespoke suits with a rich and successful history of 95 years without ever disappointing the customer’s needs. P N Rao has always answered the need of the fashion industry with introducing the best men’s fashion and setting standards for their competitors.
Now let’s talk a bit about ‘Stretch Fabric’- This is a new entry in the fashion world and would be taking over the consumer world soon. Since, more consumers are looking for sleek, slimmer and snug-fit looks, the stretch fabric is definitely going to cater to such needs.
At the event, Mr. Naveen Pishe and Mr. Ketan Pishe who are partners at PN Rao gave us an insight about how the fabric is different from their counterparts. According to them, the stretch fabric caters to those men who prefer to be suited up for most occasions, be it a corporate meeting, a casual day at work or even various social gatherings and functions like weddings. I’ve come across many men, who love to wear suits on a regular basis, but find them too uncomfortable to sit or eat in. This stretch fabric is well-tailored to put any man at ease with an amazing feel and finish.
Here are some pictures from the event where the PN Rao partners, Mr. Ketan Pishe and Naveen Pishe gave everyone an insight of the fabric design and various ways they could be used in men’s suitings.
With the launch of this comfortable yet stylish fabric, PN Rao has continued to keep up its reputation by getting products to the country of international standards by further strengthening its position in the Indian men’s fashion industry.
Now, if you are a guy and reading this, tell me what you think of the new launch from PN Rao? And if you are a lady, would you love to gift a slim and sleek blazer made out of the stretch fabric to a man you know? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below.
Till then stay awesome 🙂
PS: The pictures were sent to me by the brand and I do not own any of the pictures.
Those of you who know me personally and follow me on Snapchat must be knowing that I’ve been suffering from premature greying from quite some time now and ever since I moved to the new place, the change of weather and water has just made it even worse. I hated it when the grey hair used to peek out of my pony tail or when people pointed out to me that I have grey hair. I have tried colouring my hair in order to get rid of the greys, but it only made my hair rougher and drier and I think most of you who suffer from greying can get what I’m saying.
When BBlunt contacted me to try out their newly launched hair colour, I wasn’t too excited at first, thinking that this would be just like any other hair colour that can be used at home. But after reading why it was different from the the regular hair colouring kits, I knew I had to try this at least once.

Inside the Hair colouring Kit:
Pair of gloves
I have only coloured my hair twice in my life so far and it was always in a professional salon. Thus, colouring my hair at home was definitely something which I was nervous about and procrastinated for a long time before actually taking the plunge to do it all by myself without any help and decided to go for the safest shade which is the dark brown or the chocolate colour.
First thing I noticed was that there was no brush that was given in the box which is definitely something that the brand should consider for future. The process of mixing the ingredients is all mentioned in the instruction leaflet which makes the entire process super easy. All you need to is mix all the ingredients together in a mixing bowl and apply over your hair or in case you want to just cover your greys, they have a marking on the tubes to let you know how much to squeeze out. But before anything, make sure to do a patch test in order to see if you are sensitive to the ingredients even if you have coloured your hair in the past.
Since, my hair was quite long when I coloured them, I used the entire tube and applied the colour and let it sit for 30 minutes. Before washing, the colour off, add some water to the hair and massage the scalp and emulsify the content and then you can wash it off with a colour protectant shampoo.
What I loved:
Once the hair dried completely, I could notice the complete coverage it gave me. Apart from that the SHINE TONIC definitely did the magic. My hair is usually dry and frizzy and I could notice the softness and shine in my hair. It’s almost a month now, and I can see only a few strands go grey peeping out again, which I think is a pretty good time period, especially for an at-home colouring kit. Also, since it’s an ammonia-free colour, I think I’m definitely going to keep using it to cover greys.
I don’t see any drawbacks in this product, other than the fact that if you are someone who expects to colour your hair once in 6 months, this might not impress you much. Also, I think including a hair colouring brush would be really great to complete this kit.
I would definitely recommend this product to those of you who are looking to colour your hair at home. Have you ever tried colouring your hair at home? Have you tried the BBlunt Salon Secret Hair colour? Let me know what you think of it in the comments below.
Things are getting super busy in my life and with everyday, getting to blog is getting incredibly difficult. But, when I get some of the sweetest Dms and messages on social media from some of you, it just encourages me to not give up so easily and thus I’m back with a new review post today 😀
Long working hours in front of laptops and computers and lack of sleep results in dark circles for most of us and considering the busy lifestyles we all have, most of us don’t have enough time or patience to apply creams and wait for months to see results. Few weeks back when CS&CO contacted me and asked if I would want to check their Lonvitalite 24K Gold & Collagen eye masks. Well, why would I say NO to trying new products and especially when it’s from a brand that is sworn by Hollywood celebrities like Jessica Alba, who would not want to try it out.
Essentially made of pure natural extract and collagen composition, the masks are an innovative transparent film increasing the one-way absorption rate to the eye area by more than 98% with moisture absorption 10 times the rate of a traditional eye mask. The nutrient laden ingredients combined with 24K Gold will permeate the skin and help to speed up cellular processes, activating regeneration which aids in restoring lost ageing skin’s volume.
The Lonvitalite 24K Gold & Collagen Eye Mask promises to ELIMINATE dark circles and I was really curious to know if it lives up to what it claims. They have a very silicone kind of feel to them and consists of a serum in it. As soon as I put them under my eyes, it gave a very soothing and cooling feeling to the skin. The mask has to be put for at least 20 minutes and the best part is you can walk around and do some of your chores, but I would suggest you to relax while the mask is on to serve its purpose. I applied the leftover serum in the cover all over my face, because who wants to waste such precious things in life right! 😉
I kept the masks for 30 minutes and when I took them off, I could notice that they had become comparatively a bit thinner from when I’d put them on initially. This meant that the serum in the eye mask was well absorbed by the skin. I washed my face with plain water and did notice a considerable reduction in the dark pigmentation under the eyes. Since, the mask has a lot of good ingredients, especially hyaluronic acid, an ingredient present in most of the well-known Korean skin care products, that helps in reducing the fine lines under the eyes.
The brand advises you to 1 mask every day for 3 days, and then once a week for best results. But, I think if you are not going through serious under eye circles, using this eye mask once in 2 weeks is enough to help you deal with the dark circle problems.
If you can get your hands on these eye masks, definitely go for it because it does exactly what it claims for. I also have their Coconut Milk Hydrating face mask and I’m excited to try it out this weekend and give you all my opinion about it. For all the updates and mini reviews, make sure you are following me on all my social media channels.
I was going through my archives, and found some pictures a few months back which I didn’t quite like it and chucked the idea of posting them. But now the reason for this post is only because I want to talk about this amazing brand called TOTETECA, who specialises in personally curated handbags. Yes! You heard it right, this online website makes that makes customised bags as per your needs. And when talking about customised bags, how many times have you found yourself in a situation, where you see another girl carrying the exact same handbag like yours in a party and all you wondered was wish, you had something that no one could ever own. Well, that’s exactly what Toteteca will take care of!
Toteteca is a combination of two words, tote and teca. Tote is a type of handbag and teca literally means library in Latin.
Their goal is to create a ” bag library ” of sorts where people can select bags in any color and combination to create a bag that is truly unique.
On the Website:
Here is the demo video that explains the entire process from choosing your design and colour, to the payment and shipping process http://www.toteteca.com/demo.php. This will tell you exactly how you can get yourself a customised bag of your choice.
There is an exciting array of handbags available on the website from totes to suitcase bags, they have it all and are designed to meet Casual as well as Formal needs.
Each of these bags gives you an option to customise in terms of the base colour of the bag, colour of the metal/hardware used, colour of the inside lining, type and metal of monogram.
The awesomest part is the MONOGRAMwith the initials of your choice. That means, instead of flaunting a brand’s name on your bag, the bag will have your very own initials or maybe something else that you want on it!S
The other best part about Toteteca is, they only use FAUX LEATHER in making these bags, but the quality of the faux leather is of high durability which feels great to touch too.
They ship not only to India, but INTERNATIONALLY too! The shipping to anywhere in India is FREE of cost. They have bags to customise from 20USD to 100USD, which is definitely not too much, given the fact that you get to customise your own handbag. This is definitely a website to try out if you are a handbag lover or hoarder like me 😀
Coming back to what I customised for myself, it’s a cranberry coloured bag with gun metal coloured trims. Given the fact that I literally carry my whole world in my bag, I wanted something that was big, yet looked great to carry with most of my outfits. It came with it’s own small coin such bag, which was so nice to have. The bag was shipped to me in a huge dust bag, which was really thoughtful of the Toteteca guys. This is a spacious and a sturdy looking handbag and has been doing great even after months of using it together. You can checkout the pictures to see how the bag looks like and how I’ve styled it with my wide-legged denims.
I would totally recommend you all to check this site out. Be it gifting your loved one something so personalised, or getting your creativity into use by customising your own handbag, this is a site to be checked out. If you are a handbag lover or hoarder like me, you are going to truly enjoy your experience here 😀
Have you ever owned a customised bag? Do you like the concept of Toteteca? Let me know all about it in the comments section below.
A very happy new year to everyone who’s been a constant support to me and spare their time to visit this sweet little place of mine. It’s 2017- a year of new beginnings, new adventures and new people. 2016 were filled with loads of emotions; from being super happy to being almost depressed, it was definitely a roller coaster ride. But, I think that’s what makes you a stronger person. Right!
Some of the best things in my life happened in 2016, from collaborating with well-known brands and building a relationship with awesome PR companies to getting enrolled in one of the renowned universities in the world, I think it was all worth the struggle and hardships. I learnt so much about blogging in 2016 and made some really amazing blogger friends. I never really had much of girl friends and through blogging, I met some highly talented bloggers whose guidance and help have been one of the factors for the growth of That Trip-e Urban Life. the blog that was started with just me, now has so many lovely people associated with it and who has constantly helped me with covering events, contributing good reading substance and not to forget lots of love and appreciation.
I lost my baby dog Pluto in 2016 and this was one of those moments where I didn’t know how to show my feelings. There’s not many people who understand the grief of losing a pet. Even more hurtful was the fact that I was miles away from him and couldn’t even bid my final goodbye to him. But I know he’s in a happy doggie place and watching us all.
I’m have high hopes from 2017 and expecting some positive results both professionally and personally. I want to get my masters degree real soon and work towards my dream job. Blogging is definitely my first love, but I’m not yet ready to give up everything and go back to full time blogging for many personal reasons. Well, we can discuss all about that maybe in a different post when the time comes. I’ve not really paid attention to my health in 2016, and will try to be healthier this year and start an exercise regime. I am aiming for a certain body goal this year and for that I need to stop my coffee obsession, which is really difficult for a person like me who’s been living on coffee day and night. LOL! But hell yeah! You gotta do what you gotta do, and that’s why coffee and a lot of other really horrible things needs to be kicked out of my life real soon.
Well, this is my plan for 2017 and I am going to try my best to stick to these plans. They are nothing major, but I’m sure, they are going to add so much more to my life. What are your New Year plans? Do you believe in resolutions? have you made any? Comment below all about it in the comment section below and we can have a lovely chat here.
It’s pouring lookbooks here on the blog and I’m so happy about it. A few months back, I was contacted by the lovely people from DeMoza stores and was asked if I would like to checkout their collection. Since, I was not in town, I could choose some outfits from their website.
About DeMoza Stores:
De Moza word derived from Spanish word “Attractive Girl”. Since 2013 the brand has spread its operations with over 12 exclusive stores across Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune and Jaipur. De Moza is also available at leading department stores and online marketplaces. The company comes with over 15 years of technical know how of making superfine cotton and viscose fabrics and garments and bring the latest fashion with best in class quality at affordable price.
Here is the look that I’ve created with their pieces and I’m quite happy with the quality of their fabric. I’ve washed the pieces once and it’s still as good as new. I love to wear Indo-Western outfits and Palazzos are something I absolutely adore for it’s comfort and style. By far, the Palazzo I’ve received from DeMoza stores is one of my favourites. They fit well on me and feels super comfortable without making me look huge.
I’ve accessorised the look with some bling. The pretty necklace is from Aldo, that I’d received during their store launch at Express Avenue Mall in Chennai.I realised while doing the shoot, that the necklace was broken, and I was heartbroken to be honest. I never really wore this and I don’t know somehow it just broke while shifting. They have an amazing collection of pretty shoes, bags and accessories. The tie-up lace sandals are so much in trend, and this one from Truffle Collection was such a steal from Snapdeal which goes perfectly with the outfit. The entire makeup was done using Revlon products and I’m so happy how the makeup turned out. I’ve been lately loving their products way too much all over again and even reviewed their new matte nail paint range HERE. Checkout the entire lookbook below!

I’ve been lately loving the seasonal transition and how I can experiment with different silhouettes and styles. I was going through my archives and I found pictures from one of my shoots that never went live here. I thought why not post it now, as the style is perfect for this weather. I’m talking about fit and flare dresses. They are also called A-line dresses and compliment usually all body types.
The best part about a fit and flare dress or a skirt is how it gives an illusion of an hourglass figure, something that most of us women dream about. No matter, what your body type is, a fit and flare will make you look like that goddess with the perfect body. Even if you have wide hips and thighs , wearing a fit and flare dress or a skirt makes the lower part of your body look just like a part of the outfit. Doesn’t that sound like a magical outfit! Well, it is indeed and getting the right type of a fit and flare dress/skirt is what you need to do. Here is the look, I’ve created with this beautiful dress I picked up from. store in Lavelle Road.
Dress: Crisp, Bangalore
Sandals: Steve Madden
I prefer vintage looking flared dresses that has a structure and princess-cut flare to it as they make you look elegant and chic. They are perfect for a date night or even to a friend’s wedding. If you are looking for something in the same style, but as an office wear, less flared out and slightly narrow towards the knees should be your pick. You can accentuate the look further, by adding a cropped jacket or a cardigan with scrappy sandals or pumps.
Do you love wearing flared dresses? What do you think of this look? Let us know in the comments section below. Don’t forget to checkout our social media for upcoming posts and mini reviews.
Kurtas are such a staple piece in most of our wardrobes, be it a college-goer or the corporates, there is a style for each one of us. When I was in college, I was obsessed with wearing a new mufti everyday and tried not to repeat them again in the week and again when I started working, this obsession grew even more. There are so many varieties and styles of Kurtas available in the market as well as online and the best part is, there are some brands that want to bring these styles to us at a pocket-friendly price too.
One such brand is RANGRITI, that offers a range of bright and colourful Kurtas online for every woman out there. ‘Rang’- meaning colour and ‘Riti’- meaning fashion or trend; Rangriti brings out a line that is a fine blend of feminine cuts and beautiful shades in sync with the latest fashion trends. After going through their vast collection of Kurtas online, here are some of the styles I feel that every woman should have in her closet. I have also talked about how to style kurtas in different ways in this previous post HERE.
Straight Fit Kurtas:
These kind of Kurtas are amazing to create an illusion of a taller body. You can dress them up or down as per the occasion and the place and pair them up with leggings or distressed jeans for a more indo-western look. Add a piece of chunky jewellery and you are good to go.
These kurtas are great for office wear and you can even alter the look by pairing them with straight fit silk pants or palazzos instead of leggings. Try adding some basic jewellery to go for a more Indian look.
Anarkali style Kurtas:
For me, these are one of the most elegant Kurta styles and suits every body type. They are available in either different lengths, knee-length or ankle length and can be paired with pretty kolhapuri chappals on a casual day and high-heels for weddings and other special occasions. Accessorize the outfit with a pair of pom-pom earrings and see how you are going to be the talk of the town.
Ok, so this is a style that’s quite new to me and with the whole trend of denim and chambray going on everywhere, why not flaunt this fabric with your Kurtas! I found some amazing collection of denim-styled Kurtas on Rangriti’s online website. Here’s my favourite pick.
Maxi style kurtas:
So these are just like anarkalis, but with lesser flares, that makes them look just like as if you are wearing a cotton maxi dress. You can wear them with regular leggings or wear them as maxi dresses with a waistcoat or a cropped denim jacket and add a jhola to your shoulder, and you have the perfect college look. You can get some inspiration from these pictures too.
These kurtas are just what they sound like. They give an illusion of two different layers of fabric and some of them are even detachable and can be worn as single pieces too. These are relatively newer styles, but are extremely flattering and trendy.
Other than these 6 styles, there are also the basic princess cut kurtas that most of us were introduced to at the beginning of our kurta journeys. They can be worn with leggings or even skinny jeans and are the most comfortable for the college-goers or those who have no time to dress up to office everyday.
You would definitely love the Rangriti collections and just for all the BIBA lovers, Rangriti is their sister brand. The brand has made sure to bring all the high-end fashion to their consumers at a very affordable and attractive price , which makes it easier for the women to be fashionable everyday. They have a wide range of pretty kurtas, kurtis, pallazzos, skirts and dupattas in beautiful, bright prints and colours bringing freshness, variety & style to every woman’s closet. Make sure to checkout the Rangriti online websitefor their latest collections.
Hairfall is such a common problem these days for not just women but equally for men. Most of us have such hectic schedules, that we forget about the torture that our hair goes through every single day, from getting exposed to harsh UV rays to pollution to even those super tight hair ties and helmets we wear while riding bikes. Adding to all this agony, are all the chemical hair treatments we go through, in the hope of making them smoother, straighter and what not!
Recently, our newer member of Team ThatTripeUrbanLife, Arpitha (Know more about her HERE) went for a hair spa at Hairbitat in their newly opened branch at Vittal Mallya Road, Bangalore. When we say hair spa, don’t just think it’s any other expensive hair spa we find in salons. This was quite different, as it was completely natural and all the products were from the well-known Singapore brand Bee Choo Origins.
About Bee Choo Origin:
Bee Choo Origin group promotes 100% chemical/preservative/additives free herbal paste that can promote hair growth was conceptualized after Bee Choo, the founder of the Bee Choo Origin Group, met a Hong Kong physician who told her about Chinese herbs that can aid in solving hair loss problems. With the Hong Kong physician’s encouragement and guidance, Bee Choo started to experiment on various herbal concoctions until she came up with what is known today as the Bee Choo Origin Herbal Paste. Their aim is to solve customer’s hair problems through Chinese traditional herbs and professional service with love.
You can find the Bee Choo Origin treatments in India only at HAIRBITAT, where the only focus is only on hair treatments. Hairbitat has it’s branches in Jayanagar, HSR Layout and the one we visited was above the Raymond’s Showroom in Vittal Mallya Road.
How was the staff?
I was welcomed with a warm and smiling staff who offered me a cup of piping hot herbal tea and on asking, they told me that it had chrysanthemum in it which helps you relax. After examining the scalp, we proceeded with the treatment.
What did the process include?
A ginger tonic was applied to open up the pores to prepare the skin for the herbal treatment.
The Bee Choo herbal paste, which is the main ingredient of the treatment, was applied onto the scalp and hair and wrapped with a head wrap to avoid any dripping.
I headed for the steaming where a fixed temperature will be set for the first 40 minutes and then a lower temperature for the next 5 minutes for the paste to do its magic. This was the most relaxing time during the entire process.
After the steaming, the scalp is allowed to cool and then the paste was washed with the help of a cooling menthol shampoo and conditioner. The therapist gave an amazing massage during the shampooing which felt like heaven to me.
A vitamin essence was sprayed onto the hair along with another tonic to help prevent damaged hair.
My hair felt really soft and covered all the greys which was quite astonishing. The herbal paste had a nice aroma to it and looked a bit like henna. The therapist told me it had 21 herbal ingredients and no chemical whatsoever is added to this special herbal paste. My scalp was also cleaned up and I could see a big difference to my hair. I was also told to get this treatment a few more times in order to see permanent fix to all the greys and other hair issues.
Cost of the treatment?
The treatment will range from 2000 INR to 3000 INR with taxes included.
Do you recommend this treatment?
Yes. For the price you are paying, this is by far the best treatment I have come across which gives real results and that lasts longer even after washing your hair a few times. They recommend you to use their shampoos and conditioners and I can understand why. Most of the hair products that we use contains some or the other kind of chemicals and since Bee Choo Origin treatment has all 100% natural ingredients, they want you to use chemical free shampoos and conditioners too.
The treatment is definitely worth a try, infect more than just one try. As Arpitha mentioned, the Bee Choo Origin treatment has definitely shown results on her hair and infact has been raved quite a lot by Krupa from IshtyleAwhile. I’m definitely going to try this treatment pretty soon myself after hearing such great reviews from Arpitha. What do you think of this treatment? Have you been to any of the stores of Hairbitat India for this treatment? Let me know your views on this.
Till then stay awesome 😀
PS: The services were provided by the brand for honest reviews. Content partially contributed by Arpitha from Team Thattripeurbanlife for the post.
How’s the week treating you all? I have one final submission to go for this semester and will have a long vacation ahead! Yay!!! As promised, here’s the second edition to ‘Athleisure Life’ series, where we will be talking about styling ideas for men’s joggers and some tips and tricks. You can read the previous posts Here and Here
Even though, some of you might not like the idea of wearing your lounge pants to work or to a social event, but trust me, it’s not as weird as you think. From high-end brands to your local stores, joggers are creating a revolution in men’s fashion industry. It has definitely evolved from the baggy, loose-fitted pants to more tapered and structured to fit your body and go along with various combinations.
Try it with a T-shirt or a casual plaid shirt:
T-shirts are the easiest for any guy to pick from his wardrobe and pairing them with denim joggers is the simplest way to look comfortably stylish. If you own joggers that are of chino-material or even corduroy fabric, I would suggest you to go for a casual shirt and avoid fancy T-shirts.
We picked up this denim jogger and the full-sleeved T-shirt from Bewakoof.com. They have some great collection of joggers for men and we were quite drawn towards this particular combo. It’s best to keep the look simple and casual when you are going for joggers because in the end, they were originally made for casual or lounging right! Go for monotone colours and wear them with a simple pair or trainers or sneakers to keep the look laid back and understated.
Tips and Tricks:
If you are going for a smart-casual look, try looking for a pair of joggers that are fitted or more tailored and structured pair. But make sure to get the right one! You don’t want to look like you are wearing your girlfriend’s leggings right! The joggers should be loose fitted at the thighs and the crotch area.
If you want to experiment with colours, go for varied colours in joggers. But be careful to keep the rest of the look simple and not loud.
Try a light coloured Polo shirt with a dark shade joggers and to keep the look casual, accessorize it with a cap and some trainers.
Of course, outer wears will add more to your look. There are options from denim jackets to bomber jackets to even biker jackets. For a more work appropriate attire, go for a semi-formal blazer with your joggers.
The best pair of footwear to team up with your joggers are trainers. You can even go for some converse or plimsolls too.
So there are a lot of ways you can style your joggers and for men, the options are a lot. All you need before buying your pair of joggers is to understand your body type and what fabric suits you the best. And the most essential, not to follow the trend blindly. Only if you think, the style suits you, go for it because you always have the good looking chinos and jeans in your wardrobe! 😀
We were quite excited to shop from Bewakoof, but unfortunately after just one wash, the T-shirt shrunk to almost 2 sizes down which was such a disappointment. But this was also because we didn’t pay attention the washing instructions for the fabric. So when you are shopping on their website, make sure to check the fabric and follow the wash instructions to avoid any mishaps like we did!
Make sure to comment below your favourite way to style joggers and we can have an interesting chat here..
Do you remember how I told you “Athleisure” is all in trend these days in one of my previous posts? If you don’t recall reading the post, you can click HERE. The age is all about comfortable clothes that helps you breathe through your clothes but also make you look stylish. Joggers are one of the most comfiest as well as trendy looking piece of outfit and currently trending everywhere. Try searching on Pinterest and you will find so many jogger looks and you have one suiting every person’s style. Regardless of whether you are going to the gym or to meet your friends or to even to work, you can style your joggers in so many different styles appropriate to the occasion.
When Bewakoof.com sent us some of their awesome joggers and graphic tees, we knew we would have fun working on this shoot. Though it took quite a long time for us to put up this shoot due to many unforeseen factors, but here is the Part 1 of the “How to style Joggers” post where we would be focussing only on styling joggers for women.
Since Joggers are meant to be a casual outfit, the best way to style them is pairing up with a graphic tee and some sneakers (I would say white goes the best with all colours). I am not a fan of boxy tees but when I saw this Captain America crop boxy tee on Bewakoof.com, I thought to myself, “Well! Why not experiment!” and picked these up. I already own basic coloured joggers and hence wanted to try out a different colour. This pastel coloured joggers with “Tres Chic” printed on it looked pretty and my type and knew would go well with all the tees and shirts I own.
The second look is for a cooler or a windy day, where all you can do is just put on a flannel shirt over your tee or tank top and you are good to go. This is a perfect outfit for your school or college where you would look presentable and stylish but in a lot more comfortable way. Though these are just my regular glasses, but adding a pair of glasses would definitely give you the stylish nerdy look :D. Scroll down for all the outfit details and some tips and tricks to flaunt that pair of joggers in your wardrobe.
On my lips: Nyx soft matte lip cream (Addis Ababa)
Tips and Tricks:
Start with basic colours like black or grey if you are trying out joggers for the first time.
Look for the right fit- fitted at the waist and ankle and a bit looser at the thigh section.
Dress them down with graphic tees and tank tops along with sneakers and dress them up with feminine blouses, bustiers with some sexy heels.
Strappy sandals with joggers- a complete No-No!
For cooler days, pair a denim jacket or a leather jacket with a tank top or a blouse inside for a more ‘work-appropriate’ look.
Try accessoring with some statement pieces or a cute bag for a more dressy look for night outs and parties.
Bewakoof.com is definitely your place to shop joggers from denims to playful ones. And not to forget, their shirt dresses and graphic and fun tees are Oh So Awesome! Stay tuned for the Part 2 of this post where we will be talking about styling men’s joggers. And don’t forget to checkout our social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, twitter) to get updated about all things nice and fun!
How many of you like going to the movies all dressed up and a little presentable? I was definitely not one of those until recently when I felt like a sloth going to the movies to my neighbourhood movie hall and saw everyone all dressed up like I would do for attending a party! That’s when I decided to make some efforts rather than just wear my PJs or similar looking pants.
But here’s a thing, I go to watch movies to get entertained and be all comfy while eating my big tub of popcorn and soda and I’m not going to feel any better if I wear a dress or a skirt with a fancy crop top. Hence tights are my go to option for the movies or for mall outings these days. I literally live in my tights ever since I lost a bit of extra fat from my thunder thighs. The best part about tights are they are so versatile! You can pair them up with a crop top (if high waisted tights), a simple tee, skirt, shorts, kurtas and what not and that’s why I love them so much.
I recently went to watch the movie “Sully” and this was my outfit for the evening. Since it was a windy evening, I had to wear this pom-pom woolen cap to make sure my hair doesn’t go all cray-cray! The best part about this outfit is that it’s not only comfortable and chic (trying adding a scarf for that pop-up fashion statement), but also a perfect everyday fall outfit. Scroll down for outfit details.Hope you like the pictures!

I love matte lipsticks and when Revlon sent me three of their newly launched Matte Nail Enamel shades , I was excited to try them out. The colours I received were, Marine Matte, Sunny Matte and Cool Matte and each of these are priced at 190 INR. They currently come in 8 shades ranging from reds to corals to blues.
Shades available: Hot Matte, Marine Matte, Coral Matte, Rosy Matte, Cool Matte, Sunny Matte, Flaming Matte and Crimson Matte.
Price: 190 INR
This was the first ever time I was trying matte nail paints and I was so surprised by the fast drying formula of these nail paints. But this could be a disadvantage too, if you don’t close the lid of the bottles fast. The consistency is a bit runny but goes opaque in 2-3 coats. The colours look super intense due to the matte finish and looks really classy on the nails be it long or short nails.
The only point that was a bit disappointing was it’s longevity, but that might be also because I do the house chores including washing utensils everyday. With all the washing and cleaning, the nail paint was still intact for 4-5 days after which it started chipping at the tip. I would suggest to apply a matte top coat to make sure that the nail paint stays for a longer period of time and to avoid chipping.
Despite all this, I absolutely love the colours and how it looks on my nails. Ever since I moved to the new place, I haven’t been getting time to go for manicure and have a bit of a dry skin around the nails. But these nail paints still make my hands look nice and presentable. Since I wanted to try all the three colours at once (call me impatient!), I thought of trying some easy nail art and this is the best I could come with, without any nail art brushes. I’m a total amateur when it comes to nail art, hence this was real fun to do and I was jumping around like a happy kid with my colourful nails. HEHEE!!!
I would totally recommend the Revlon Matte Nail Enamels as they are not heavy on the pockets compared to some of their other matte counterparts and if you don’t mind changing nail colours on a weekly basis, this is totally your stuff. My ratings for the product would be 4.5/5 only because of its short staying and a need for a top coat.
Let me know in the comments below if you like the concept of matte nail paints and which one is your favourite shade among the three. Don’t forget to follow us on our social media channels to know what we are up to. Till then stay awesome 😀Read More »
In the recent years, I have added on some extra kilos and a lot of grey hair too and initially I hated my body and how it was changing but now I’m trying to make peace with it. I had to tell myself, that I’m a normal human being and change is just a part of my life. And I ain’t got millions to get surgeries done to make me look forever young 😛
From the past 2 years, I’ve been running away from bodycon dresses, skirts or anything that came anywhere close to my skin in the fear that people will call me fat. I was trying to body shame my own self but recently I decided to build some courage and get into this beautiful beige bodycon dress I recently bought from Topshop. And I’m so glad I did so because I frieking love bodycons now and will never ever stay away from them. Infact, I bought two more bodycon dresses after this shoot. 😀
Here are the pictures from that day; A perfect look for the Autumn with the least amount of efforts needed. Enjoy the pictures!!
Beige Dress: Topshop
Puffer Jacket: Cotton On
Shoes: Street Style Store
Patterned Stockings: Shop Nineteen
This was a simple outfit idea that you can try for the coming Autumn. There’s not much efforts put here in dressing and that’s why I love dresses for t’s simplicity and effortless beauty. Always remember to love yourself because nobody can appreciate your flaws until you don’t do it yourself.
I’m back and these few weeks have been a roller coaster ride. Moving to a new place, a new house wasn’t easy. It was like starting a new life all over again, but things are way better now and what better to do than what I love the most-BLOGGING!!!
Last month, Hitesh from our team attended quite an extraordinary event in Bangalore held by VAYA. Extraordinary, because nobody really thinks much about the good old tiffin boxes that most of us carry either to our schools, or to offices or even while travelling. But this awesome guy named Mr. Vashisht Vasanthakumar who also happens to be the CEO of VAYA, decided to make sure that nobody ever has an embarrassing incidence of spilling curries in their handbags or super yucky and cold noodles to school. Let’s know more from Hitesh, how the event was and it’s highlights.
The event was organised in one of the luxury hotels of Bangalore, ITC Gardenia and when we reached at the venue, we noticed that the host was the beautiful Lakshmi Rebecca who was excited as all of us were for this launch. The event was started by the funny man itself, Karthik Kumar who is a well-known stand-up comedian who cracked some of his best and witty jokes to entertain all of us. Following this, we were shown a video where Vaya interviewed few people among the public and asked them what they would like to see in an ideal tiffin box. Most of those were definitely in all of our minds and general issues what we all go through with our tiffin boxes.
The star of the evening, ‘TYFFYN‘ was introduced with a wonderful contemporary styled dance performance and what we witnessed was not just any regular tiffin carrier, but a revolution in itself. Vaya tiffins are a perfect combination of innovation with style and makes sure that the food remains hot like how we all want. The CEO, Mr. Vashisht launched the three different variants of the vaya tiffins and explained how the products were created and why it is different from the regular tiffins. According to him, Vaya Tyffyn , with its proprietary ‘VacuTherm’ technology, incorporates the correct amount of vacuum within its copper lined cover shell that helps in heat retention. Products are designed to keep food hot even after six hours of packing, which means, at lunchtime, users are sure to enjoy their meal, hot and fresh! Each Vaya Tyffyn comes with its own stylish and smart shoulder ‘BagMat’, which unzips into a table mat.
The product is available in three different variants, Graphite– silver finished, Maple-wood finished and Wool– wool knit fabric finished and is currently available only on their website VAYA.INand is priced at a very competitive range of INR 2500 for a three-container version. We absolutely enjoyed this well organised event hosted by Vaya and look forward to using the Tyffyn on a regular basis. Make sure to checkout their website and get your daily dose of hot piping food with Vaya’s Tyffyn.

I love dressing up in Indian ethnic wear and I can any day say that I prefer a saree over anarkalis or lehengas because of the fact that it makes every woman look classy and sexy in them. The fact that there’s so much variation to sarees in terms of fabric, design and even the way you style them, makes it even more awesome to flaunt them. I like my sarees to be simpler in designs or usually prefer light-weight fabrics like Chiffon, Georgette or Cotton.
When Sareez.com contacted me to try out their sarees, I was ecstatic, one because I’d seen so many great reviews about them on YouTube and two, because I had so many weddings to attend and they just made my life a lot easier.
“Sareez is one of the largest and the most recognized online stores for Indian ethnic wears. Founded in 2009, Sareez, today, has emerged to be a globally loved and preferred provider of a variety of Indian ethnic attires including Sarees, Salwar Kameez, Lehengas, Sherwani, Kaftans and more. We are based out of Kolkata, West Bengal, India. We at Sareez boast of our team of designers and craftsmen, who works together to make our dream of defining Indian ethnicity come alive.”
I had been delaying this post from quite sometime because the pictures weren’t that great and didn’t come out as I’d planned thanks to the horrible horrible weather in Chennai. Within minutes, my makeup was just melting like a crazy monkey and it all showed up in the pictures. Nonetheless, I still wanted to put them up for the simple fact that the sarees still looked super gorgeous and makeup or my face really shouldn’t be a topic of botheration right. I think we all are friends enough to give me a Hall Pass for this 😀
So I picked up 3 beautiful sarees, two for me and one for my mommy. Before I left Chennai, we had a mini family photoshoot (you’ll see my awesome family in the pictures below) and I wore this pretty green saree with a beautiful hint of yellow, golden and pink to it. The moment I saw this saree on the website, I knew I had to get this. It was so simple, yet there was something so beautiful in the colour and how it looked. Mommy dear wore this pretty purple Banarasi saree which according to her is definitely not for summers. It’s kind of makes you feel super hot but otherwise, the saree is amazingly made and has a great finnish to it. The best part about sareez.com is that they even have the option of getting the blouse and the petticoat pre-stitched while ordering from their website, which is a pretty good and saves you time and trips to the tailor. But make sure to give the right measurements or it can be a big pain and definitely a waste of money.
The second saree I got from Sareez.com was this beautiful beautiful browny-yellow georgette saree which is super light-weighted and is comfortable to wear too. I think this is one saree that I won’t mind wearing the entire day without worrying about tripping over it. The floral design makes it all the more fun to wear it and also received a beautiful boat neck blouse in a contrasting red colour which goes so well with the saree. The fabric feels really soft and is perfect for office wear especially if you live in cities that are humid and hot. Mind you guys, I haven’t put any makeup on because my skin was acting crazy and I didn’t want it to become worse by putting makeup on. So if you plan to give any hate comments, please stay away from the blog!!!
The shipping did take some time for one of the sarees but the other two came pretty quickly. They have quite an amazing collection of sarees, suits and lehengas and are decently priced too. Apart from that they also have a LIVE CHAT option which according to me is quite good as any query can be clarified quickly without going through the hassles of sending them emails and waiting for a reply for ages. I highly recommend Sareez.com to all those who are looking for a variety in ethnic Indian wear and also want a good value for their money.
Which is your favorite saree among the three? Do you love wearing sarees? Make sure to let me know in the comments section below as I would love to know your thoughts on it.
It feels so good to be back! I know I’ve not been the least good to you all by not posting anything since a while, but that’s because I was moving to a totally new place and getting used to an unfamiliar place and getting comfortable in being yourself is kind of difficult especially when you are all by yourself. Anyway, now that I’m back for good, I hope to be regular and when I say “I hope”, that’s because now I’ll be shuffling between blogging, my new University and also looking for some part time job and well that’s not really going to an easy task, but I love you all way too much to just not blog at all. At least 1 post per week would definitely be there, pinky promise 😀
Coming back to the post, almost a month back, I got a chance to attend a hair show organised by Wella where the famous hair stylist, Patrick Cameron, who’s also known as the God of Long Hair showed us some amazing modern contemporary hairstyles on beautiful long hair. The brand recently brought down Wella Global Ambassador Patrick Cameron to educate 1800 hair stylists across three cities in India through grand shows where he exposed them to the various possibilities of hair styling and his association with Wella. He believes that hair styling is an expression of individuality and thus cannot take a back seat.
He did a very interesting and dramatic hair styling demonstration on 10 different models and made each of them look so easy to do in real life. All his 10 hair styles were inspired by the retro age but with definitely a twist. According to him, retro or vintage hair styles were all about sleek bouffants but the contemporary vintage hair styles are all about texture, a lot of volume and tons of hair spray. The best part was, these hair styles can be easily done within a span of 8-10 minutes , provided you are good with hair sprays and bobby pins. 😛
All the models were in beautiful Indian attires which were appropriate for weddings and cocktails and looked stunning with the added magic of Patrick’s work. The part I loved the most about his demonstrations were the intricate details he gave during each of his hairstyles. He mentioned that, Indians are not very familiar with hair styling products and has a notion that they would spoil their hair. In fact it’s the other way round! These hair styling products are specially designed to make your hair more manageable and easy to style with no damage, provided you wash off all the product later and make sure there are no residues left.
The entire session was so interesting and there was no point where I found it boring or too much to take. His energetic persona and love for hair styling was so visible during this entire session and having heavy and thick hair myself, some of his tips have really been a saviour to me. I have also received some hair styling products which I’m definitely going to use and review in the near future.
What is your take on hair styling products? Do you think it’s a life saviour to us women, or spoils the hair? MAke sure to comment below and tell me what your thoughts are?
If you follow me on my social media profiles, you would know that recently I have become a part of POPxo as one of their POPxo Blogger and when they, PUMA and Myntra came together to give one lucky person the chance to meet Rihanna in person in USA, I was more than ecstatic to be a part of it. So before going through the post, please take some time and vote for me by clicking this link and help me win this awesome chance to meet Rihanna– http://bit.ly/28KHiuQn1. It will ask you to login, click on “Login to participate” and then vote by clicking the “heart” icon.
If you don’t know yet, PUMA has collaborated with Rihanna for their FENTY Collection which truly describes Rihanna’s style- edgy, sexy and bold. All I had to do was buy a PUMA product from Myntra and style it my way , but this time I wanted to go all out and try something out of my comfort zone and what better inspiration than Rihanna herself. I chose an oversized red T-shirt from the Men’s section and a grey coloured backpack from Myntra. I have seen RiRi styling any kind of look with so much confidence and likes a more casual, more sporty look, and she rocks it to the fullest. I decided to pair the tee with a denim dungarees skirt that I bought from Sarojini Nagar Market during my recent Delhi visit along with my Sky Hi sneakers from Koovs. I have recently been way too obsessed with anything that’s 90’s and wanted to go for a grunge 90’s look which is something that’s been sported quite a lot by RiRi.
It’s pretty obvious that I cannot match anywhere near her style, but style is all about taking inspiration from the looks you like and putting in your own bits to it right! Also, double buns are trending these days and I recently saw RiRi flaunting them too in one of her casual night looks, hence tried these double buns which I absolutely loved. Keeps all the hair away from the face and looks super cute in a not so kiddish way.

The process is simple, click on the LINK, click the “Heart” under my picture and that’s it. The contest ends on the 5th of July, hence your votes needs to reach me before 5th and you can also participate too and get yourself to win the trip.
Yesterday I had posted about my experience at Warren Tricomi Salon and how I got my first ever eyelash extensions from NovaLash. Though, fluttery and long eyelashes look charming and beautiful , it also comes with a lot of post care and high maintenance and for ladies who are impatient and always in a hurry, this can be a little bit difficult to manage. But fret not, considering myself as one of the most laziest girls in this universe(LOL),
I am going to give you a few tips before getting eyelash extensions done….
Do your research: If you go on the internet, you will find tons of bad experience stories about eyelash extensions, hence doing a good research about salons that have trained technicians to do the procedure. Visit the salon directly and ask the technicians questions about their experience and expertise before booking an appointment. Warren Tricomi has certified NovaLash technicians and that’s where i had got my lash extensions from.
Take care of the glue used: Many of us have sensitive eyes and hence will be more prone to redness and irritation with the glue used. Hence, ask the technician to use the special glue made especially for the sensitive eyes.
Make sure to have enough time in hand: The procedure is time taking and tedious and you need to be very patient to lie down still for atleast 2 hours straight and hence, booking appointment during an off day would be the best option to avoid a hurried up work. Because trust me, the results will be only clumped up and untidy eyelashes.
Be practical: Do not go for a Kim Kardashian look! Just because she looks sexy in those long luscious lashes doesn’t mean it will look flattering on you as well. Be practical and go for lashes according to your lash length and natural density. Also if you wear glasses, it’s advisable to not go for very lengthy extensions as they will keep touching your glasses and make them dirty.
No that we have discussed what you need to do before and during the procedure, let’s discuss about the after care and some do’s and dont’s:
Do not rub the eyes:When the technician asks you not to rub your eyes, they mean it. Since the extensions are glued minutely close to your natural lashes, there 99% chances of you losing your natural lashes too while rubbing your eyes along with the extensions. And by the end of a month or so, you’ll notice that you have hardly any natural lashes left. Not a good idea eh!
No mascara and oil based makeup remover: really, you won’t be needing mascara with these babies on. It is advised to use only a water based mascara if it is really necessary and stay away from oil-based makeup removers and even eyeliners as they can melt the glue faster, making the extensions more prone to falling off faster.
Comb them regularly: Everytime you wash your face, make sure to comb the lashes gently with a mascara wand that you can easily find online. This would avoid any kind of clumping once it is dried and also makes them look naturally blended.
If taken proper care, eyelash extensions can stay for atleast 20-30 days without touch ups. This procedure is a tad bit heavier on the pocket, but is a great alternative on saving time from applying and reapplying mascara all the time. A procedure that has been quite a rave in foreign countries, it is picking up quite well in India now and have got a good response too. There are very few salons at the moment in India that does this procedure and make sure to read proper reviews and do your bit of research to go for it. Checkout this video to know how the procedure is done-
My experience with NovaLash was indeed a good one and the lashes are still going strong. I do have a few fallouts daily but they still don’t look ugly in anyway. You can visit Warren Tricomi Salon or the NovaLash website and checkout their work and learn more about eyelash extensions too. Make sure to comment below and tell me your opinion about eyelash extensions and if you think this is a good alternative for time saving.
Till then stay awesome 😀
Disclaimer: The services was offered by Warren Tricomi for my honest reviews.
Remember the post I did talking about a recent visit to a spa at Spa la Vie by L’OCCITANE? Well, the same day I also got a relaxing manicure-pedicure service at Warren Tricomi and eyelash extensions for the very first time in my life.
Today I’ll be discussing about my experience and what it’s really like to have eyelash extensions on. NovaLash is a company that makes a brand of eyelash extensions that have to be applied onto your lashline by a certified NovaLash professional. Unlike falsies, where you apply a row of lashes onto (or above) your lash line at once, with NovaLash, each eyelash is adhered to your lash-line one hair at a time. The extensions are actually glued onto the roots of your natural lashes, so as your natural lashes fall off time to time, so do the NovaLash extensions.
My experience: So here’s how the whole process was done:
The NovaLash expert asked me to lie on the table and positioned himself near the head to start working with the lash extensions. He asked me what kind of lashes I would prefer and I asked him to go for natural looking, less dramatic NovaLashes.
He then stuck an adhesive tape on my lower lashes so that they don’t get glued during the process and asked me to relax. It did feel a bit uncomfortable in the beginning, but then it was all fine.
He individually started gluing single lashes one by one for almost an hour or two.
After gluing the lashes, he took a mini fan and blasted cold air onto the lashes to dry out the glue as fast as possible so that they don’t get stuck to each other and clump up. This was the most annoying part of the whole process as he had used a glue that is used for sensitive eyes and which takes a huge amount of time to dry up. Took almost an hour to dry up and separate the NovaLashes, but the end was what was worth waiting for.
Once the entire process is done, while opening my eyes, I did feel so weird in the beginning and took some time to adjust to the new babies on my eyes. But once he showed me the result, I was stunned. The NovaLashes looked so natural and blended with my natural lashes really well. They didn’t feel heavy at all and looked just as I wanted, that is long and dense. I was quite happy with the amazing work done by him and felt like a celebrity with the new look, Hehehhe!
My Manicure-Pedicure experience:
It was time for me to get a pampering mani-pedi at the Warren Tricomi Salon which is located at the same place as Spa la Vie by L’OCCITANE. I usually don’t go to a salon for manicures or pedicures, because I usually do one at home once in a month the old school way. But when the amazing people at Warren Tricomi asked me to try out their service, who could say not it!
The entire procedure was done by two of the staffs from the salon and it was one of the most relaxing mani-pedi I’ve ever got. I was made to sit on chair which honestly was not the most comfortable one, yet manageable. There was warm water already kept for the pedicure at the foot of the chair and then there are very interesting drawers at both the sides of the chair, that is filled with warm water for your hands.
The manicure: Since I had small nails when i went for the service, I din’t have much choice to choose the shape that i desire for, hence asked to just file the nails a bit. After that a cuticle cream was applied and I was asked to dip the hands in the warm water for a while. Then she wiped off the cream and started cleaning the cuticles thoroughly. The lady then took out a very sweet smelling sugar scrub from forest Essentials and started scrubbing the hands and my arms till the elbow well to remove all the dead skin. The manicure was done finally with an application of a massage cream from Forest essentials again.
The pedicure: Well, I’m not very proud of how my feet really look. They are super tanned all the time and I sometimes find them very old- lady like. LOL! The staff after soaking my feet in the warm water, applied the cuticle cream and let it sit in the water for a while. He then removed the cream and started cleaning all the gunk from the nails. He then took the same forest essentials scrub used for the manicure and gently started scrubbing my feet and part of my legs and applied a massaging cream all over the feet. The massage after that was super relaxing and he did his job really well. I wish I remembered his name because he was damn sweet and explained everything during the entire procedure.
I was then asked to choose a nailpaint colour and decided to go for a nude colour and successfully found a browny nude shade for my skin tone. It looked super pretty on the finger and toe nails and also stayed for almost 3 weeks. I am planning to go back and get the same shade from there soon.
So this was my overall experience at warren Tricomi, Vr Bengaluru and also with getting eyelash extensions. I would be doing a separate post on how to take care of your new lash extensions post the process and the pros and cons of it in my next post. So make sure to visit the blog again tomorrow because there’s going to be a first hand experience discussed here.
Hope you all slayed the Monday Blues pretty well and are all set to rock the rest of the week with loads of positivity. Few days back, I visited the Play salon located in Phoenix Market city mall in Whitefield, Bangalore to try out the latest hair colour trend by exclusively curated by L’oreal proffesionals using their INOA Mocha range or popularly known as the #MochaMania.
Mocha is surely the colour of the year 2016. But what’s so special about these mocha colours? The rich mocha shades are an amazing mix of browns, just like the mocha coffee, which is an aromatic and colour-infused blend of coffee and chocolate. These Mocha shades are under its no-ammonia portfolio – INOA with new shade numbers 4,8 / 5,18 / 7,18 and 8,8.
First of all, I must admit the hospitality of each and every staff at Play Salon. This was my first ever visit to the salon and I was made so comfortable by the staff and was offered coffee and then the senior hair stylist Abdul did a scalp and hair test before the hair colour treatment to check the condition of my hair and scalp. He told me that my hair is way too dry and had a lot of breakage along with dandruff issues.
He suggested me a dandruff treatment as well as the newly launched Kerastase Fusio-Dose treatment to treat my hair and scalp. Since my hair was previously chemically treated during rebonding, he advised me to go for a subtle shade which included least amount of bleaching and thus we decided on the shade 7,18 which was a very pretty dark brown mocha shade and using the Balayage technique for application which gives a very natural look.
Abdul was quite engaging and explained each step during the entire process and why it was being done on the hair. After keeping the colour for a while, he did the colour wash and then went ahead with a dandruff treatment. The scalp felt super cool due to the peppermint in the mixture and after washing the mixture thoroughly from my hair, we proceeded to the Kerastase treatment. There are different variants of Fusio Dose which is used according to the requirement for the hair. As post colour treatment is very essential for maintaining the health of the hair as well as the colour itself, he used the pink coloured fusio dose along with the Vita-Cement which helps in strengthening your hair. After spraying the mixture all over the hair, it was time to give mist to the hair which will infuse the fusi0 dose into the hair and will work instantly.
It was time to see the final results, and it was only after 3 years I was going to see my hair coloured. I had so many doubts in my head and was sceptical about whether it would look good on me or if it would damage my hair etc etc. But when I finally saw the hair colour after the blow drying and styling, damn I was stunned! It looked so good and the hair looked beautiful in those loose curls.
#MochaMania is truly made for the Indian women and you would not go wrong with these shades as the colour is perfect for the Indian skin tones. This colour treatment is exclusively available only in salons and here’s a good news for you all, with every #MochaMania colouring treatment, you will get a complimentary hair cut and hair care products from L’oreal Professional till the 15th of July! All you have to do is book an appointment at the Play salon in Phoenix Market city or Mantri mall and you can get a pretty makeover soon.
I am super happy with this new makeover and have received so many compliments on the hair colour too. Don’t be scared to experiment. Colouring your hair is not that bad at all, if you take proper care of your hair and do regular hair spas at home or at salons. Do let me know what you think of the hair colour in the comments section below.
I’m so happy to be back on track with blogging regularly. It feels super good to post everyday and today i’m back with an outfit post for you all. Few months back when I was invited for the launch of the “Signature collection” at Wills Lifestyle, I found such amazing varieties of silhouettes, that are perfect for the summers and exclusively designed by the well known designers of our country. There were a couple of pieces that really caught my attention and one such beautiful outfit was a Lime green coloured Kaftan styled Tunic which had a pretty “Bandhni” work on it. The fabric was light and soft to touch and I knew I had to pick it up for myself and style this for you all.
Since the colour looked so soothing to the eyes, I paired it up with a white pair of trousers that i’d recently bought from Unlimited Storesand wanted to go for an easy breezy college/shopping look, so wore my flip flops from Myntra and my fringe bag from New Look. I wanted to go for all summery shades and hence avoided any kind of dark colours for the look. The whole idea of sporting this look was keeping in mind a perfect shopping day with your girlfriends with no hassle of clothes sticking to your body or any such discomfort, yet look stylish and put together.
The hair was tied in a loose pony tail and the makeup was kept minimal in this look with only some compact powder, a nice shade of Chambor liquid lipstick and some eyeshadow. Summers are all about wearing comfy loose but not shabby clothes. You need to know how to dress well even in the most loose fitted clothes without looking like you just got out of the bed. If you own loose T-shirts or tunics, you can always cinch your wait with a belt and look presentable instead of looking way too casual. I own loads of oversized clothes and I usually tie them at the sides or use a belt to kind of make it look my size and it really does the trick.
I am absolutely in love with this colour and fabric and I would really recommend you all to checkout the Wills Lifestyle store for their new Signature collection. I have another post coming up which is all about dressing up for a party in comfortable clothes. So stay tuned for that and follow us on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Snapchat@aishwaryamohan7 to know all about the upcoming posts, mini reviews and lots of randomness.
If you are a regular reader of our blog, you would know that I was MIA for a while and the reasons are many. Among them were me being highly stressed out and sick with my regular back pain issues
. Somewhere during this time, i was contacted by the good people at Spa la Vie by L’OCCITANE to review their services. It was really a miracle in disguise and ask me why? Well, you’ll know all about it by the end of this post.
The luxurious Mediterranean themed Spa L’OCCITANE invites every guest to experience the simple warmth of sunny soil and a unique journey. Every gesture, every ingredient is drawn from the L’OCCITANE grand herbarium, providing an unforgettable authentic and sensorial experience for its guests. The one I visited is located in the newly opened VR Bengaluru at the lower ground floor.
Amidst the hullabaloo of a mall, is the Spa La Vie By L’OCCITANE where I was welcomed by a smiling staff and a cup of honey-lemon-ginger green tea, which is their welcome drink. I was then offered a pair of straw slippers and was then introduced by the manager Anumohan who consulted with me and asked me about my work, stress level etc about the various massage therapies available and I was asked to fill out a form where I had to fill in all the details about my lifestyle, any diseases or if I had a problem area. After all that, we finally zeroed down to the Relaxing Aromachologie Massage, which is a full body massage to ensure complete body relaxation, just what I needed!
I was then escorted to the Spa Room by my masseuse Athisa, who gave me the clothes to change into and waited outside the room for me to change and get comfortable. After that, she soaked my feet in water that smelt divine to me. And then my body massage session followed for the next 60 minutes. She made sure I’m at the utmost comfort and kept the body covered and exposed the body part by part to massage them. I literally drifted into another world that was peaceful and serene. There was a point wherein I just went into sleep and trust me you guys, that was one of the best ever sleep I’ve had in a long time. Athisa was damn good at her job and after the session, she used an aromatic oil and kept it near my nose and asked me to take deep breaths. Attached to the spa room is a shower room and also a bathtub where I was asked to take a hot water shower. The spa provides their own shower gel, shampoo and conditioner which is super impressive because a lot of other spas, these essentials are missing. The also had a hair dryer and newly wrapped comb which you can use after the shower.
The spa was extremely hygienic and clean and every detail was taken care of to give the most relaxed session for me. I did feel rejuvenated and relaxed at the end of the session. The spa was then followed by few other services that i’m going to talk about in my upcoming posts. So stay tuned for that!
If you are looking out for spa and massage treatments with great ambience and a welcoming staff, then I would definitely suggest you Spa la Vie by L’OCCITANE The prices are just like any other spa you would have visited and is indeed a great value for money. Spa la Vie by L’OCCITANE can be found in many cities all over the country and you can visit their website to check the locations as well and book your appointment.
It feels like eternity since I posted something here and to be honest I am not going to be apologetic about it this time for the very fact that I was not in the right frame of mind to write or put my head into anything creative and didn’t want to post anything just for the sake of posting. Well, am all fine now, atleast I feel fine and now it’s time for me to get back to something that I absolutely love- Blogging!
Today we are going to talk about kurtas and how this versatile piece can be styled in various ways and can be truly called a fashion statement. A lot of us don’t really know the difference between a KURTA and KURTI and I was one of them too until last year. After some research, I found out the difference and realised that a Kurti is the one which is shorter in length usually till your hips and a Kurta is more of a longer silhouette and usually till the knees or even below that. Well, that really does mean a huge difference right!
Now that we are sorted out with what Kurtas are, let’s talk about them a bit more. A Kurta is one of the most comfortable pieces that one can find in their wardrobe. They are casual yet very chic and make an amazing style statement if styled well and appropriate according to the occasion. You can style one Kurta in so many different and unique ways; All you need is a little creativity and lots of mixing n matching.Let’s find out the different ways one can style a Kurta.
Leggings: This is the most common way, we all know to style our kurtas with. They are comfortable, convenient to carry and look very classy on anyone. You can wear leggings that match with the Kurta color or go for contrasting colors and pair some jumkas and kolhapuris to go for comfy yet stylish Indian look.
I found these pretty vibrant kurtas HERE.
Palazzos: This is the most recent trend that’s in vogue and one of my most favorites too. It is super comfortable and yet looks stylish in so many ways. These wide legged flared pants looks flattering on different types of body. Wear a solid color with a printed kurta or a printed palazzo with a solid colored kurta and you are going to look fabulous.
Indo- Western dresses: Flaunt your super long anarkali styled kurtas or the short flared kurtas as as dresses and give yourself an Indo-western look. Choose the right one and style it with the right accessories to darn your winner look. These are perfect looks for college-goers or even for brunch meetups. Style the kurta with a boho neckpiece, joottis and a jhola for that perfect Bohemian/ Indo-western look.
Slim Fitted Pants: Pairing your Kurta with a slim fitted trouser or pants is perfect for an office look. It’s comfortable and looks fab and helps in making you look tall and lean. You can carry this look to even a party by going for printed pants in cotton or silk fabrics.
Skirts: This is my second favourite way of styling kurtas. The best part is they let you breathe in what you are wearing , hence perfect for the tropical weather in India and also looks elegant on most body types. You can go for matching coloured skirts or go for a plain kurta with loud coloured skirts or vice-versa.
Jackets: A simple plain kurta with a printed or an embroidered jacket is a perfect alternative to a dupatta. It looks smart and gives you an ethnic look as well. Button it or just let it loose, a jacket is trendy and cool. You can go for long jackets with a slit in the front or at the sides or short cropped jackets for a more casual college look.
Jeans:One of the most recent trends that has come back from the 90s. I remember wearing my kurtas with jeans in my teenage years. Now the best part about teaming your kurtas with jeans is that you can either go for slim fitted jeans or even go for a casual look by pairing them with a boyfriend jeans or a distressed jeans. Add some joottis or kolhapuris and a jhola and see how you are going to turn numerous heads towards you.
There is a certain charm in Indian wear and makes every woman look beautiful in the most comfortable way.It all depends on how you choose the right silhouette according to your body type and how you style them with the right accessories. Long Kurtas make you look leaner and taller. Use this to your best advantage and dance away to glory. Have a diverse collection of kurtas based on fabric and style and stay on top of the ethnic fashion race. One Kurta can give you so many different looks and that’s the beauty of Kurtas.
Which is your favourite way of styling kurtas? Do let me know in the comments section below.
Till then stay awesome 😀
Disclaimer: This post is in collaboration with BIBA but all the details discussed here is solely mine and not influenced by the brand.
I’ve been suffering from a very bad cold since the past week and that’s why I have not been active on my social media or even posting blogs. But finally I decided to get up from the bed and post this look that was supposed to go live a long back.
Nothing will give you that immediate rockstar feel like a chambray shirt because it defines “understated cool”. The chambray shirt is one of those statement pieces that can never go wrong and has made sure it is here to stay. Pick white chinos or joggers for bottoms that look like summer and you are set to look effortlessly fashionable. Colours always incite a certain kind of feeling and perhaps blues remind us of the summer days. Or maybe it’s because it’s the easiest colour to match! Whatever it is, blue has been ubiquitous in spring/summer menswear collections.
So here is a look that i have put up for our Face of the Month for June on the blog, Hitesh who happens to be the blog’s official photographer too. He is the man behind for all the beautiful pictures on the blog and one of the reasons for making me look pretty for you all through his pictures. Hehehe
Since, he’s too camera shy, it was kind of difficult for me to convince him to do this shoot for me and a lot more difficult for me to make this tall boy pose for the pictures. But I think we did quite a good job and have come up with this simple casual look using a Chambray Shirt from Wills Lifestyle. We have paired the shirt with denim joggers which according to me is one of the best pieces that any guy can own in his wardrobe. Since it’s a summer look, we went for flip flops instead of shoes, but if you like wearing shoes, go for a nice pair of white sneakers or kicks and you can make this look even more stylish.
If you are not comfortable experimenting with joggers, you can always go for your good old pair of jeans or even white or beige chinos. You can convert this look into a party look by simply pairing them up with chinos and some brogues. Hitesh likes simple and effortless looks, hence he wanted to stick to this minimal look and he thinks this is something the college-goers can definitely try.
I saw this polka dotted chambray shirt at Wills Lifestyle and instantly picked it up for this shoot. They have an amazing Indigo collection and I think you guys should definitely check out their new collection. I have talked about their SS16 collection in my previous post HEREand how their men’s collection truly impressed me.
Chambray has such a cult status because of its off-duty cool vibe, so keep it simple and cool. Do not try and think too hard about how to style this trend. However you decide to wear it, as long as you keep your look simple you will have that rockstar feel, trust me. Chambray is not just about the shirt. Recently, because of its popularity and versatility, it has expanded into the world of suits. The best part is, it’s a versatile item; By investing in some quality pieces, like a heavy feel shirt and a lighter weight one, you will be covered for every season. Wear it under a coat for an extra layer, or wear it open as a coat itself.
If you own a chambray shirt or would want to own one, how would you style yours? Comment below and let me know and tell me what you think of this month’s face of the month? Would you like to get featured next month? Send me an email at email@example.com and I will definitely like to get back to you. And don’t forget to check out our social media on Facebook, Twitter , Instagram and Snapchat(@aishwaryamohan7) because I post mini hauls and reviews there 🙂
Hope none of you are having trouble dealing with the Monday Blues today. I have been having super hectic and troublesome days but somehow trying to stay positive and getting through them. Back to the post for today, a few weeks back, I was invited by Wills Lifestyle for their SS16′ launch in Chennai. This was the first time I ever went for an event at Wills Lifestyle, but was in awe after seeing the beautiful collection they have come up with this year.
For me, Wills Lifestyle was always a place to buy my formal wears from, but with the spring summer collection this year, they have upped their game for sure. They have collaborated with some amazing and renowned designers from the industry and I got to style 4 models in my favorites from the collection. I wanted to create looks that were appropriate as casual brunch wear as well as those that can be worn to work but something apart from the boring basic colors.
I styled the male model in a striped pink Polo T-shirt along with black denims which went really well with his white kicks. To match with the casual look, I asked the female model to go for the assymetrical blue dress from Ritu Kumar and a white handbag from the collection. This look was created keeping in mind the scorching summers that we all are facing these days. The silhouettes were amazing and the fabrics used in this collection is super comfortable and wearable even during the day time
The next two models were styled for more of an office appropriate look or something that can be worn to official parties and events. When it comes to work wear, most of go for basic colors, but i think we can play with colors if styled in a subtle way. I love Nehru jackets and I feel men look so presentable when they wear a jacket like this on top of their shirts. So i gave the model this off-white Nehru jacket to pair it up with the blue formal shirt. I styled the female model in a pretty orange shift dress which I absolutely loved and accessorised it with a white clutch. You can even top it up with a summer blazer to give it a more professional look.
The 2016 Spring Summer collection is all about breezy fabrics and summery shades. You will find outfits that are so comfortable once put on. The men’s collection impressed me in every aspect. From the indigo/denim range to their formals, everything was stylish yet comfortable.
I have three lookbooks coming up soon this week, where i have created looks for both men and women with the signature collection as well as their denim collection. So stay tuned to this space and follow me on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to stay updated with all the exciting news about latest posts, events and giveaways. And I do mini hauls, behind the scenes from events and launch and reviews on my Snapchat @aishwaryamohan7.

I’m sure most of you are watching the nail biting IPL final between RCB and SRH when I’m writing this post, but I had to share with you all the fun Hitesh from team #thattrirpeurbanlife had at the #LoveScotch event this Friday along with the sensational singer, actor Anushka Manchanda and the much sought after mind reader Nakul Shenoy. USL Diageo continued its celebration of #LoveScotch in Bangalore with candid conversations and precious moments around Scotch whisky which began at Permit Room and ended at Arbour Brewing Company.
The unique flavour and personality of of Scotch Whisky made Anushka and Nakul share their love for their favorite blends. Both the lovely personalities tried their hands behind the bar by creating signature serves and exotic cocktails with the help of United Spirits Reserve Brand Ambassador Andrew Qadri. Anushka created West Coast Julep made with the iconic Johnnie Walker Black Label while Nakul made Sunset Cinnamon infused with Black Dog Black Reserve.
We absolutely loved Anushka’s comfy and sporty look. She was wearing an off shoulder dress with white kicks and an absolutely adorable half top knot. She even did an impromptu by singing a song for everyone that made the even more interesting and fun. Nakul, on the other hand grabbed everyone’s eyes by his wonderful mind reading skills that got everyone mind boggled for sure.
While speaking to our team, she mentioned her connection with her favorite drink Johnnie Walker Black Label. She stated “Scotch is the world’s favourite whisky and my love for it is timeless. My father’s favourite Scotch Whisky is Johnnie Walker Black Label and hence mine too! Whenever and wherever I globe trot I always bring him a bottle of his favorite Scotch Whisky and It’s almost like a ritual now. It’s the first whisky I knew, and the one I enjoy sipping the most.”
On the other hand, this was what Nakul Shenoy had to say about his love for scotch whisky- “I enjoy and savour my glass of Vat 69 Scotch Whisky. It embodies the spirit of being unique and doing things differently which resonates with me. The pub crawl was amazing fun and a great way to showcase our love for Scotch Whisky. I now realize it is no easy task to make cocktails as it needs skill and technique to do so. Whether neat, on the rocks or in a cocktail, there is no right or wrong way to drink Scotch whisky, as long as you enjoy it, that’s all that matters.”
It was a lot of fun this time all the more for the music and great people around. Anushka and Nakul surely did make sure to let everyone know why they love their Scotch so much. Here are a few cocktail recipes, that you might want to try the next time you have your Scotch Whisky:
Black and White: Orange and Mint Julep45ml Black and White, 4 slices of orange, 8-10 mint leaves, topped with Ginger ale. This drink is built in a hi-ball glass over cubed ice and stirred quickly before service.
Black Dog Black Reserve: Sunset Cinnamon
45ml Black Dog Black Reserve, 10 ml Cinnamon syrup, 2 of Maraschino Cherries, 5 dashes Angostura bitters. Stir all the ingredients over ice and garnish with a cinnamon stick.
Black Label: West Coast Julep45ml Johnnie Walker Black Label, 20 ml ginger infused honey syrup, 30ml apple juice, 10 fresh mint leaves, 5 ml lime juice. Add all ingredients to shaker and shake hard. Then double strain into a rocks glass, add crushed ice and serve with a fresh mint sprig garnish.

Ever since I started doing makeup, finding a good foundation in the right shade was a pain for me and especially in a country like India, where most people are obsessed with being fair, a dusky girl like me can never find her right shade. I still come across SA in stores who try to convince you to buy shades that is way lighter than your actual skin tone and apparently it makes you look brighter and fresh. LOL!
Let me tell you a few tips to take care of when you go to buy a foundation:
Don’t let the SA swatch the shade on your hand. Make sure you swatch it on your jawline and on your forehead to see if the shade matches well with your skin.
Test the shade in daylight before buying it since the lighting in the store can be deceiving.
You can probably ask the SA to apply it on one side of the face and finish your shopping and come back to buy it once you are done. This way you can do flash photography test also and check the longevity of the foundation.
Now that we know the tricks to find the right shade, let’s talk about some of the best foundations available in the Indian market.
Maybelline Fit me & Poreless Foundation: This is my current favorite foundation and I’m glad that Maybelline tried to include more shades suitable to Indian skin tone. It gives a semi-matte finish and medium coverage and is perfect for oily skin. Dry skin ladies can always moisturize well before applying this foundation. The best part is it fills into pores amazingly and gives an almost flawless finish. Price: 525 INR. Quantity: 30ml
Lo’real 24H Infallible Stay Fresh Foundation: I have already done a detailed review on this product HERE. This is definitely a bit on the pricier side, but worth all the money you spend. It gives a full coverage matte finish and is again amazing for oily skin girls. The shade availability is great and even the staying power is commendable. The foundation is perfect to be worn for events and other occasions. Price: 1325 INR. Quantity: 30ml
Faces Glam On Prime Perfect Foundation: This is not very popular among the crowd probably due to the lack of raving about it on the internet, but recently I saw this with a friend of mine and tried it and I was super impressed by this foundation. The foundation has 5 shades which caters to most of the Indian skin tones, but again leaving the darker skin toned women of our country. The creamy texture is easily blendable if you work your way quickly and also gives a matte finish. Price: 699 INR. Quantity: 30ml
Lo’real True Match foundation: The best part about this product is the shade range. This has always been one of my favorite foundations ever for the simple fact that it caters to most of the Indian skin tones and the pigmentation and blending power is so good that it will not at all feel heavy on the face. It gives a medium to full coverage and stays for a long time. Price: 1025 INR. Quantity: 30ml
Lo’real Magic Nude Liquid Powder Foundation: Another great product for oily skin women. This foundation applies like a liquid foundation and settles down like a powder on your face. A very buildable consistency and can be your go to daily wear foundation. The shade range is good too and is perfect for summers as it has an SPF of 18 in it. Price: 899 INR. Quantity: 27ml
Revlon Colorstay (Oily to combination) Foundation: One of the most loved foundations and I know why! The perfect dupe for MAC studio fix and a miracle for oily skin girls and those who sweat a lot like me. The foundation gives a matte finish and stay put for a long long time. Even if you sweat, the foundation will not drip like many of its counterparts. Price: 895 INR. Quantity: 30 ml
Lakme Absolute Mattreal Skin Natural Mousse: A perfect product for working ladies. Why? Because of it’s mousse consistency, it blends super easily without any hassles of going for your makeup brushes or sponges. The mousse looks very skin like once applied and can be good for this summer for sure. Price: 700 INR. Quantity: 25g
Bourjois Paris Healthy Mix Foundation: As the name suggests, this product does impart a good healthy glow on your face without making you look like a grease ball. The blendable texture makes it extremely easy to work onto your skin. The best part is the longevity of the product. Even during extremely hot summers, this foundation does a great work for at least 6-7 hours. Price: 1480 INR. Quantity: 30 ml
Colorbar Full Cover Makeup Stick: Apart from the limitation in the shades, this foundation cum concealer stick is pretty amazing. The staying power is excellent and even has an SPF of 30. I’d tried this foundation at the Colorbar counter and went on a super hectic day thereafter and girls, no kidding but this foundation didn’t smear even a little on my sweaty face that too in the humid Chennai weather. A bit pricier on the side, but I think it’s worth the money. Price: 675 INR. Quantity: 8 gm
Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid Foundation: This foundation has a mousse texture to it and makes your pores look smaller if not fade them completely. The product blends amazingly on the skin and comes in around 5-6 shades. If you are looking for a dewy finish foundation, this is really good for you and doesn’t make your face look cakey at all. Price: 700 INR. Quantity: 30 ml
The ’90s are having a moment, and overalls or our very own dungarees are back in full force! Denim dungarees retain a sense of easy, relaxed cool. They’re the original, and probably the safest and easiest option if you’re trying out the dungarees trend for the first time. Denim will always look casual and laid back for this summer, there are always ways to add up some fun bit to it. Be careful to sport your dungarees the right way, or you might look like a kid or you just walked off of a farm and we don’t want that right 😛
Here, I have styled my dungarees in 3 different ways, for 3 different occassions. I got this dungaree from StalkBuyLove.com and ever since then, I’ve been just wearing these in so many different ways. You can get yourself a pair too from them as they have some really cool styles from wide leg overalls to skinny ones to even pinafores.
Look 1: This look is something that I would prefer for brunch parties or a laid back outing with your girlfriends. You can sport this look for a date, if you are not one of those who wants to be all dressy and lady like but still want to add a bit flirtiness to your outfit. I absolutely love this off shoulder dress which is also from and the amount of times I’ve worn this, I think by now, all my friends are tired of seeing me in this top already. I’ve worn my favourite pair of wedges that I’d got from Jabong 2 years back and so many people have complimented me for these. You can wear them either with both the straps on or to keep it a bit casual, let one side be kept loose like I did here.
Look 2: The second look is a bit more sexy yet chic for me. I wore this to a recent launch at Forever 21 and I absolutely loved the way it turned out. I had no plans of putting this look in the post, but since many of you liked this look on instagram, I’ve added the pictures from the event itself. You can always sport your dungarees with a nice crop top and some glitter heels like mine. To give your overalls a slightly sleeker feel, cuff them at the ankles. It helps make the baggier fit more flattering, and makes your legs look longer! The crop top underneath adds an extra dose of flirtiness. I recently got this crop top from Splash and the coral bag is again from STALKBUYLOVE. Oh yes! I do shop a lot from SBL.
Look 3: This is the most comfy look out of the 3 and I think would suit any body type provided you go for a good fitting dungaree. All you have to do is just style your dungarees with a quirky tee or just a plain basic tee (preferably not white) and you are good to go. I have paired the dungarees with a tee from People that I’d bought from Mumbai for just 200 Rs. This is a perfect airport ensemble I feel and can bet that you’ll have the most comfiest flight journey ever.
Also, the duffel bag that I’m carrying is from a brand called MOHAWK and trust me you guys, ever since I received this bag, I’ve been using it all the time while travelling. It’s super spacious and durable and fits all my essentials. The best part is they have bags for office goers to travellers to even backpackers. There are even some really amazing multipurpose bags that can be carried from your office to your your vacation. You can find their products on all the e-commerce websites like Amazon, Flipkart, Snapdeal etc and even get some really good discounts. I love this brownish-reddish shade and like the fact it has good hardware which, if taken good care can last you a long long time.
Make sure you checkout their Facebook pagefor their unique designs and style. I am so going to order some more bags for my upcoming travel plans from them because they are just not bags but are definitely statement pieces.
Hope you liked this lookbook and got some ideas to style your dungarees/ overalls. I’m totally digging for this ’90s outfit and I would love to know from you, how you would style your overalls. Make sure to comment below and let me know!

Here’s a DISCLAIMER to all those who’s reading this post-We are in no way promoting any alcohol or drinking alcohol here. It’s all about the experience we had at the event #LoveScotch. Keep in mind the legal drinking age in India is 21 and make sure you drink responsibly and not drive after consumption of alcohol.
Anyway, now that’s all cleared, let’s come back to the post. If you follow me on Twitter, you’ll know that Hitesh from team #thattripeurbanlife was at the #LoveScotch event at Hotel Shangri-La Bangalore marking the World Whisky Day. Well, to be honest, this very day even existed was a new thing to us but now that it’s known, we are so eagerly waiting for next year to come. We got to party and celebrate the day with some well known celebrities like the Canadian model Coco Rocha who is also the Global Brand Ambassador for #LoveScotch, the well known Actor Randeep Hooda, Designer, actor and TV presenter, Mandira Bedi, our very own Bengaluru boy Dino Morea who is also a Bollywood actor and former model and Rajiv Mehta, CEO, Arvind Fashion Brands & Arvind Sports Lifestyle.
The party started with a chance to meet all these wonderful celebs and talk to them about their favorite drink. While speaking to Coco Rocha, we got to know a lot about how she prefers her drinks, her favorite cocktails and a lot more. Here’s a small interview we took with Coco….
Q:Your favorite drink?
A: I love JOHNNIE WALKER a lot.
Q: Do you like cocktails? If yes, which is your favorite?
A: I love cocktails and my favorite is Scotch with ginger ale.
Q: Any memory you would like to tell us about Scotch?
A: My love of scotch all started with my dad’s collection of Scotch back at his house.
We got a chance to take a lot of selfies with her too. Hitesh was glad, that he could reach upto her height and get a picture clicked with Coco. Haha! Randeep Hooda and Dino Morea made sure to keep the party all fun and exciting by pulling others legs and being all humorous. When asked, Randeep likes to drink Black Dog and also likes Black and Blue label and said, “Celebrating World Whisky Day instantly takes me back to all the times that I spent with my dad, discussing my career over a glass of Black Dog. He always enjoys his Scotch on the rocks, while I have grown to enjoy it in different ways. And this is exactly why #LoveScotch resonated with me.”
Dino prefers Black and White with Whisky Sour being an all-time favourite. Mandira stated she likes her single malt whisky with two cubes of ice on the rocks and mentioned, “Each of us have a prized possession and for me it’s my bottle of Singleton that adorns my home bar till today. I enjoy my Scotch especially when celebrating special moments with friends and family.”
According to Coco, “A bottle of scotch is the best gift to be give to your friends and they will like you more. Celebrating World Whisky Day in India has been an absolute pleasure. I am a whisky lover myself who enjoys her Johnnie Walker Black Label and for me to get the opportunity to meet the Scotch enthusiasts of Bangalore was a great experience. We are officially introducing #LoveScotch to India and I’m sure this will create a movement that celebrates a global love affair with the world’s favourite whisky – Scotch.”
When Hitesh introduced our blog to Randeep, he was quite impressed with the name” That trip-e urban life” and in fact cracked some jokes on it too. During the panel talk, Dino Morea mentioned that he started to drink Scotch only at the age of 27-28 when 2 of his friends conversing about it. Mandira Bedi also mentioned that she had scotch the first time with her dad in Punjab. After the panel talk, Dino and Randeep headed over to the cocktail making session where both of them created some wonderful cocktails. We had a chance to have Highland sour which tasted amazing.
Next stop was at UB city where all of us had a chance to watch Mandira make few cocktails at Skyye Bar and Coco a few at Sanchos. The entire experience of meeting all these celebs was incredible for team #thattripeurbanlife and make sure to follows us on our social medias to get all the latest updates about events, fashion tips and many more.
